I have never heard that one but I don`t believe it . I believe he had blue eyes.
I was on google the other day and searched for elvis' eye color(altho i know the answer--blue--) i was curious. it listed a few forums with the topic elvis had brown eyes and wore contacts to turn them blue/hazel.. anyone else heard this?![]()
I have never heard that one but I don`t believe it . I believe he had blue eyes.
Elvis was fitted for brown contacts for Flaming Star, since he was playing a native in the movie but that idea was scrapped.
The One and Only King of Rock'n'Roll.
Well, I`m going to stick with my buddy Rosie! She is the one who saw them eyes up close and personal!! So am going to say blue! Whatever color they were , they were gorgeous.....
well i think they were blue cos a friend of mine saw him many times in concert and shook his hand and he said they were blue and very captivating never heard anything about contact lenses
Aside from Flaming Star, the only mention of contact lenses I have heard was in The Final Years by Jerry Hopkins, which was a good book (especially for its time) but loaded with factual errors. It was in reference to his developing glaucoma and being sensitive to the stage lights. Pretty sure the way he worded it along the lines of "special contact lenses were made" and it did not say that he ever wore them.
I know that his having glaucoma was a fact, and he had a bad flare-up during a recording session in '71, I believe, and a doctor had to stick a needle in his eye to relieve the pressure (ouch). How much of an issue the light sensitivity was for him, I have no idea. It has been said that is why he wore his tinted glasses all the time so perhaps it was considerable. Regardless, I have trouble believing he would wear contacts with any regularity as they weren't so comfortable back in the seventies.
Above and beyond all that, colored contacts had not yet been invented. If they had been, you know that they would not have been nearly as realistic as what's on the market today so it would be very apparent if Elvis had worn them.
...you won't forget me when I go.
However, his eye color seems diff'rent in a lot of close up pictures.
Varying from indeed hazel, to greenish and yes bright blue, like f.i. that certain 1969 press conference picture.
Thats true, he could not get use to wearing them the story goes.
I think the variations in the color could be due to the lighting he was in as pictures were taken and also the type cameras, film used-and the developing of the pictures all these factors have a little to do with the color quality.
Image how many fans over the years have always thought his eyes were blue when they indeed were hazel.
I'm sure by 1977 his eyes were in really bad shape from the stagelights..![]()
"How do I get placed in situations like this? Ah hell, I guess it's all part of showbusiness "~ Elvis in his limo on his way to perform in Omaha, NE on June 19th 1977
A little info on Hazel colored eyes.
Definitions of the eye color "hazel" vary.
Hazel eyes often appear to shift in color.
Some eye colors are too mixed to identify properly, and are identified as hazel for simplicity's sake.
A number of studies using three-point scales have assigned "hazel" to be the medium-color between light blue and dark brown This can sometimes produce a multicolored iris.
So this could be one explaination as to why his eyes look different in photos.
Let the stars fade and fall, and I won't care at all, as long as I have you.

They were gorgeous eyes, and I loved his long lashes, too.
Just pretend, I'm holding you, and whispering things soft and low.
And think of me, how it's gonna be and just pretend I didn't go
Light hazel eyes also change with whatever colour of clothing is worn. That could be another explanation why Elvis' eyes look so different from picture to picture.
