More underrated songs that never seem to get attention where they deserve stuff like Where Do I Go From Here, Its Only Love, Fool...all outstanding tracks. Would you agree and what would you say are some very underrated tunes?
One of the most underrated songs from the underrated album Elvis Now.
I think so, I just for the first time lastnight heard this song on the Fool album from '73. The note Elvis hits at the end is incredible.
The whole Now album is spectacular IMO, Until its Time For You To Go, Padre, We Can Make The Morning, Lady Maddonna Jam, its all so great.
Really love the jam session of Lady Madonna wow what a hit that would have been had her recorded that song.

yup thats what i love cos the songs had a sence of reality to them and elvis sung them with such emotion and i'm sure the same thoughts must have been going through his mind
"Padre" wasn't on the original "Elvis Now" album, either.
Let's Hope F.t.d. Surprise Us Again , Would'nt It Be Nice "padre" Live ???

Bradley, I think the confusion starts with all the FTD releases and that sort of thing. I have to agree...when I saw yor first post I thought "What?" Everytime there is mention of an older album I go right to the original release..which is different from the FTD's. Hope that helps.....![]()
I like many of the songs on that lp.However I think overall you have to view it as a letdown at the time it was released.Elvis came charging back as a viable artist after those dreadfull movie years. From Elvis In Memphis and Elvis Country were two masterpieces.Elvis Now is basically a collection of material just tossed together for the sake of having product to sell. This lp and Love Letters basically were steps backwards for him after his resurgance. The quality of his studio material along with his enthusiasm to record burned out so quickly.I wish Elvis hadnt recorded some of that stuff on Elvis Now.For me some of the stuff just didnt suit him and wasnt the direction he should have taken musically.Unfortunately this was the case for all of his later studio efforts. Most of the time Elvis' talent was wasted on the material he was performing. Many of the 70's studio cuts were of subpar caliber and beneath him.
