Thread: How often Do You Watch Elvis In Concert the CBS Special

  1. #61
In the past I watched it several times( both shows)... no more than 5 times though, vocal wise Elvis did his best and there are some better version of songs he sang there : Hurt, How Great Thou Art,...of course : My Way...

Brad, I'd rather listen to the CD of this show than actually seeing him on DVD in such a bad condition,...

Before he sang " Are You Lonesome Tonight..." and he said " I am and I was..." also... the part when he mummbled and said " I can sing but I can't talk...." was sad to watch.

Elvis was quiet impressive in those 68 sit down shows wasn't he.

I have voted, once a year, for that I belive that he is painful to see him in this condittion, already he was really sick, but tape-worm in his voice the only power, which when you it listen to you heart gives sudden draft, his voice comes to the soul with more force and feeling that never.

Agreed it was very sad to see.

I think a large part of why he was having trouble talking may have been to due to the amount of uppers he was consuming. But not all mind you, he always had a suttering thing when on stage in the early 50's if you listen to those shows etc. But imo I believe the drugs had something to do with that in the end.
