What if is was considered unprofessional? Elvis always broke the rules and acted more human than other entertainers. That's what made him Elvis and special. I wasn't at all offended at this silly display on stage, I found it funny and entertaining and nothing "gay" about it at all. I don't feel it would have spoiled the EIC filming at all.

Always great to see Elvis having a bit of harmless fun. Thanks for posting the clip![]()
I think it was pure fun and I like it.
If we are talking about professionalism, then I'd say in Elvis' current
condition it wasn't professional at all to go on the stage in the first place.
Oh well they were just goofing off and having fun, everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves, the fans were to.
I dream a world where man no other man
will scorn. Where LOVE will bless the earth
and peace its paths adorn...
Agreed Tommy. They were just having a little fun, it certainly didn't hurt the show any worse than it already was with the condition Elvis was
in...

i agree and its good to see that no matter what health problems elvis was having he could still laugh and have some fun and charlie and the fans seemed to be having a good laugh i think it was not done for the eic because i don't think it was rehersed just a spur of the moment thing

While on the topic of Are You Lonesome Tonight its hard to think of a complete version elvis did without messing it up.
The last one I can think of would be Hampton Roads Va from April 9th 1972 from Elvis On Tour..can anyone recall a complete serious version from after that date?

Actually it was not spur of the moment. This routine was done in a number of shows in '76 and '77.
I never did understand why sometimes Charlie would hold the microphone for him in the first place. Very weird.
...you won't forget me when I go.
I'm not mad UTMom, I just put the mad thingy down because enough of the gay thing. I've seen Elvis & Charlie do this before. It's funny how Elvis looks at Charlie and says "honey" and laughs. They were good pals as you know. Charlie was just trying to make Elvis feel better. He should've wore a dress LOL, then yes it might have been Gayer? Is that a word? Gayer?![]()
That is funny Charlie holding the mic. Even with Elvis playing the guitar it could have been on the stand. Maybe they did that only a kidding times? I'll have to pay more attention when I watch stage performances....if I can get my eyes off Elvis.

The whole gay overtone, and Charlie acting a mic stand.
Ugh ...

Very unprofessional if you ask me.....
Probably because he was being filmed for a television special. Thank God that they didn't do it....it would've been very embarrassing......
have mercy!!!
you both sound like 19th century boy school principals..
Elvis-unprofessional?? now that one is the funniest..![]()
well, I begin to get some other criticism better..![]()
Theres no denying Elvis was unprofessional a few times. Closing Night in September 1973 Las Vegas, same the next year on September 2nd 1974 the infamous Desert Storm performance....
