One of the most wanted DVD's is the concert movie 'On Tour'. This tour documentary still has not seen an officially release on DVD. The copyrights are in possession of Warner Bros and although rumors popped up last year that a...

It seems to me that with this, the only remaining concert (except for the 1977 concert) to be remastered and put on DVD, that Warner Bros. or whoever, would do this. And, ironically, this was the one movie that won an award - the Golden Globe - .... I know you think I'm already nuts, but I actually ordered this on VHS a few days ago (still waiting for it by mail) so I would have at least one copy of it. I haven't seen it in 30 years, so it should be interesting.

In time I hope it will be released along with the outtakes.
Til then I will enjoy the many hours of outtakes I have on dvd![]()

I really don`t see the problem with this....there is a market for "Elvis on tour",the fans have been waiting forever for it,done properly it could only add to the fan-base,it`s too good for the public not to see how great Elvis is in it....it`s bloody nonsense, especially with the time and effort they have put into the `68 special and Aloha from Hawaii, not to mention TTWII.......Do we have to wait for an appropriate anniversary for it to see the light of day?.......2012...2022...2032?????
No, there really isn't.
Sure, there are a lot of fans that would buy it ... but not enough to warrant the costs of locating the original material, restoring it, putting it together into a package, working out the royalties etc etc
TTWII failed spectacularly, and ran at a loss. Admittedly, sales of that DVD were hurt by the film being shown on TV prior to release, but the affects of that have been somewhat exaggerated.
It's a harsh reality that the release of EOT is completely unfeasible. That's business, and (sadly for us) that's life.
Like it or not, it's good business sense for Warner Bros not to release it.
So get your VHS copy, and transfer it over to DVD.
Getlo - cute'n'cuddly
My God
Getlo...that has depressed me beyond belief!...........ah..well...ah...thanks...I guess.
well i think its a reall shame that they keep cos they keep re releasing the same material i would love to have on tour on dvd they should stop trying to make cheap budget cd's and start releasing the things us fans wantand what we are willing to pay for i hope we get it some time soon preferably before i'm old and grey i also want EIC but thats a long way off if its taking this long for on tour
I'd rather look on the optimistic side, there maybe a limited market for this release. And yes I agree with Getlo that it might not be feasible for Warner to spend megabucks restoring this material.
However, I would hazard a guess there really is people out there who would do this project as a labour of love. You only have to look in the direction of Ernst and other guys like Praytome etc to see there are people willing to take on this job.
The likelihood is that Warner will keep hold of the material and sit on it for the time being. there is of course a couple of questions to be raised here, 1) Why on earth haven't they just released the original without any remastering? Surely there is money to be made even if it is minute. 2) Why can't they get into a partnership with EPE/Sillerman or other interested parties and see what package they can put together.
I just don't buy that this isn't a viable project that isn't worth taking on, you only have to look at Elvis' other films, there surely is less demand for films such as "Tickle Me" and yet this film has been released on DVD. I have just looked on Amazon and this dvd can be picked up for $5.00 - $10.00 new. If EOT was mass produced and retailed at $15.00 it would turn a steady profit without much effort.
I'm like you Matt would rather look at the optimistic side of things. This film won a Golden Globe, and is one of the best documentaries ever...and deserves to see the light of day. Atleast on DVD for crying out loud.
