    hi there
i too have this date as an obsession. i was only 12, but i remember that TIME pretty well. growing up in vegas has its advantages! the I hotel had just opened and my father was working there, having been transferred from the flamingo, like so many international employees.

anyhow, i have been saving all kinds of pictures from july and aug 69. after looking thru them all, i do believe i have july 31. i have dates on my pictures only because that's how they were named when i found them on the internet. it seems elvis wore a black gi, red and blue scarf, red and black belt. the black pants had red inserts in the bellbottoms.

if someone thinks i'm wrong or right, let me know.

would you like me to go ahead and upload these to photobucket to share?

btw, i once , in 1975, made the acquaintance of fan and photographer howard wallen (i wonder where he is now?) and he gave me (a now known) photograph of elvis sitting on a stool playing guitar taken that night, he said. howard was working for a newspaper at the time and was lucky to be able to jump at the chance to be at elvis' opening night. howard seems to have sat stage edge.

Since the opening was invited guests and press only-you'd think there would be many pictures of this night.

When my brain started working again That's what I thought.
This would have been a huge social event, IMO.
I'd bet someone has pictures and even some film .

As with MSG...if anything was shot during such a pivotal moment as this in Elvis's career, it would have surfaced way before now.

Agreed Tony, especially considering how much money someone could make off of that footage if it really did exist.

    Aw, Tony--
Believe what you want . It just makes no sense there are none.
Of course, you're not as old as I am; but ,believe me--
This would have been a huge, social occasion at the time, with lots of VIP's . Maybe, you'll live to see some come out.
I've found that some people do not like to reveal everything--until and if they choose to. .

One should never state anything so positive IMO.
It just irritates the optimistic and you might end up with "egg on your face ".
Life is not all about "making money."

Agree with you.....as we all know with the MSG pictures, thought we had them all then hundreds are found.....it may simply be a case that whoever took the pictures has done the same thing and they are just waiting to be found again
