Story:
Elvis plays the manager of a traveling canvas college group called Chautauqua. They go from town to town spreading cultural knowledge.
In one particular town the group gets into trouble (not as much with girls, as the title of the movie implies) but mostly with town locals.
There's a girl who wants to leave home and join the Chautauqua and there even is a love-affair which eventually results in murder.
O, and Elvis falls in love with Marlyn Mason.
Behind The Scenes:
Filming started on October 28, 1968 and completed in December.
Vincent Price is mainly known for his Hammer horror movies.
Chautauqua started in 1874 in Chautauqua, New York as a twelve-day study program for Sunday school teachers. It later became a mobile rolling college of cultural education, featuring music, lectures and home reading courses.
They were organized commercially from 1912 to 1924.

I enjoy this film because it's so different. Elvis isn't in every scene. He doesn't sing every 5 minutes. But the songs used are well integrated into the action. It's almost as if Elvis guest stars in his own movie. But it works because he's the glue that holds the traveling show together. The one sane
person amongst all the "insanity" around him. He always arrives just in the nick of time to solve the problem and save the day. Good soundtrack and supporting cast.

This is definitely one of my favorite Elvis movies.
The story itself is worthless but Elvis never looked better than in this film.
The scene where he sings 'Clean up your own backyard' alone is worth the price of the dvd.

The only thing I didn't like about this movie was the constant camera motion in a few scenes. ( the Camera zoomed in & out, side-to-side & at awkward angles) It made my head spin so I had to close my eyes. This was done quite a few time, but not throughout the movie. I love the song "Swing Sown Sweet Chariot"
