That's Someone You Never Forget (The Song)

I was going through the Definitive Love Album and come across this track recorded on June 25th 1961. I love how intense it sounds and Elvis' voice on it just gives me chill bumps....Just reminded me of how excellent and probably the best ever his voice was at that time!!

This has been one of my favorites for many years, you can feel the emotion that he puts into this,I often wonder who he was thinking about when he sang this.It was taken from a great album that had a lot of good songs that would make great singles

Yes, a very beautiful recording. Elvis' voice was exquisite in this period. Many of the ballads from this time are grossly underrated and quite esoteric -- "There's Always Me", "I Met Her Today" and "They Remind Me Too Much Of You" come instantly to mind. I don't want to sound presumptuous, but it seems he may have been going for acknowledgement as a serious singer in this period. No matter the brilliance of his RnB / RnR, if you look at 1960-1963, you find song after song of controlled singing and tender commitment to the sound and feel of a lyric. We hear the seeds of this in the 50's, going all the way back to the first thing he ever recorded at SUN (i.e. "My Happiness"), but I think he was invested in the complete sound of a recording only on these latter ballads, because the technology had moved on, allowing for a fuller, richer sound, and because he had access to backing singers, giving him that gospel feel he always desired.

    Thats very true!
I find myself listening to more of the early 60s recordings more than anything.
His voice was amazing at that period
Thats my girlfreinds favorite song by the way,she thinks the begining of the song sounds spooky lol!

Although Elvis did not write songs, supposedly he had a small hand in this Red West song. He came up with the title and perhaps a line or 2. The line was inspired by some accounts by Elvis speaking of his mother.
