That would be my number 2 pick. I just love that raw sound his voice has to it during that Closing show on September 3rd 1973. Think it was where he was pissed at the Hitlon
Right....I was just being lazy when I typed my response and didn't want to go and check to be sure I had the right date for that TTWII version!!!

And yes, that CLOSING SHOW version is where he was mad at the Hilton....he stops the song between MYSTERY TRAIN and TIGER MAN and says that he wanted to "dedicate this song to the hierarchy of the Hilton Hotel".

Can't disagree with you on the raw power and sound of his voice during that performance for sure...

Great lines, I just got home and had my FTD's waiting for me! I can't wait to pop them in tonight! Music to relax too!

Just pretend, I'm holding you, and whispering things soft and low.
And think of me, how it's gonna be and just pretend I didn't go

the one i like goes something like this "for those of you seeing me for the first time you'll realise that i'm totally insane and have been for a while" i think it's in the TTWII dvd.
I never looked for trouble but I never ran.

Man I tell ya that FTD Closing Night features IMO the BEST EVER version of MysteryTrain/Tigerman

In my opinion, the version of MYSTERY TRAIN/TIGER MAN that opened TTWII - SPECIAL EDITION is possibly the best version of that song that I have heard!!!

But the version on CLOSING NIGHT is definitely a top-5 version!!!

I agree with you Mike the TTWII version is a spanking good tune. As for the 73 version he does seem pissed at the Hilton ha ha

It was that stunt elvis pulled that closing night that caused him to have a blowout fight with Colonel and fired him. and colonel i think was trying to scare elvis when he told him he owed parker 2 million dollars ..thats a bunch of bs imo.
