The Elvis I Knew DVD by Charlie Hodge

For those of you who haven't seen this, I must say its a MUST HAVE DVD !!

I recieved mine today, and watched it and it was pretty amazing. One point I want to bring up Charlie told about the Cancer story, Dr Nick Told Vernon then looked at Charlie and said "Charlie this is striclty confidence". And then tells how Dr Nick told me that Elvis had bone cancer and it had spread through out his whole body.

Other than that, it has some AMAZING QUALITY footage from all through 1975 that is worth the purchase alone !! Kuto's to Charlie for making such a great documentary, he was certainly the hardest working man in the Elvis camp aside from Elvis himself
"How do I get placed in situations like this? Ah hell, I guess it's all part of showbusiness "~ Elvis in his limo on his way to perform in Omaha, NE on June 19th 1977

    Kind Regards,
    Brad

Thank you for posting about this DVD. I hadn't been aware of it. Charlie was always my favorite of the MM.

From what I've read Vernon started the rumor about Elvis having bone cancer to see how far Charlie would spread it as he was known not to be able to keep a secret.

That's all I know about it too Diane. And I agree with both of you...Charlie has always been my pick of the litter!

Daddy, I miss you more every day. You will always be my hero..

Charlie said he first spoke about it in his book...

Yes I have Charlie's first book and he did mention that Elvis had bone cancer. I'm not sure if he was ever convinced that it wasn't true. It seems that Kathy Westmorland is to this day convinced he had it too.

Not sure. Maybe that would be easy way to blame Elvis' decline the last few years..I don't know....

That could very well be true as both Charlie and Kathy were extremely loyal and it would not have been beyond them to use it to soften people whenever his addiction was mentioned.

My kind of friends for sure as it does no good to bring out anyone's dark side as there are too many who would use it as has already been done....over and over again.

Kathy still to this day continues to believe the myth that Elvis had bone cancer.

Maybe she was so hypnotized by Elvis' charma and charisma, that she physically and mentally wrap her mind around anything else....and then again, maybe she's just nuts!!!!!!!!!!!

l just posted a story by sandi miller and she even says the same thing.

Her perspective on the more controversial aspects of his lifestyle at the time, she said, is tempered knowing that "he was sick and we could see it was a sickness and he was taking pills to help the pain" of bone cancer [sic]. While Pichon said she was told in 1974 that Elvis had the disease, it "only came out probably last year to the general public that he had bone cancer." ...

I think so many knew these guys ,they just choose to believe Elvis ,over and above anyone else . Can't say I blame them!

    However, it's been written{ } that Dr Nick told that story to Vernon after he returned from BMH. It's also been written, that Vernon told Francisco to not let Dr Nick have a copy of the autopsy. {that's in court papers}
The autopsy says nothing about Elvis having any cancer !
That autopsy report is in Thompson and Coles book; The Death of Elvis!

I believe they choose or chose to believe the cancer theory, to deal with his death and decline alot easier...rather than point to really he simply self destructed and destroyed his life and career.

All need to read a little further ! You'll see how physically sick he really was !
Many tend to close their eyes and go for the sensational !.
It's takes some hard work and a lot of time to find any truth amongst the BS !
