My favorite version of See See Rider is from Live From Memphis, 1974!!! My parents had the 8-TRACK of this concert and I can remember listening to it in the car on the way to New Orleans!!! In fact, that is an awesome concert, too!!!

Nothing tops live Aloha. Sounded great.

Early concerts, 1970. I like the harder rocking edge.

70 versions are best rock wise but 77 EIC is far better than Aloha.
My favorite is probably June 21, 1977

I'm going with Memphis '74 as well. That version rocked the house down and with the incredible sound how could it not!

I'm right there with you on this one. I think his "huskier" sound is the best for this song, and when he gets wailing on this version, its awesome (can I still say awesome?? How about RAD???)

The first time that I saw Elvis live was Las Vegas, August 1971 and his intro song was "That's All Right Mama". The 2nd time I saw him was in Dallas, November of 1971 and he was still using "That's All Right Mama". He didn't switch to "See See Rider" until 1972.

    Ma'am,

The on stage live album has Elvis singing See See Rider, 1970.

OK....he was switching back and forth I guess. I have the CD's from the 2 1971 shows..and he leads off with That's All Right Mama.
I have that OnStage album..I didn't think about that one.

I wanted to hear See See Rider for MSG. Elvis should have done 2 See See Rider openings and 2 That's All Right Mama openings.

Hi Joe, you are right, he did sing it in 1970, but not as an intro song. Though it was the first song on the On Stage album, it was in actuality about halfway through the shows setlist. Just imagine, E sang it in '70 without the guitar or mic stand. Sad theres no footage of it....

See See Rider was first performed live onstage on Febuary 5th 1970. Elvis never used it as his opening theme song until Opening Night 1972

Agreed. On those versions from '70 his voice sounded so raw and rockin' it was incredible!!
