I never seen the movie 2001 a space oddysey. But everytime i hear that theme i think of Elvis. The first time i ever remember hearing it was at the aloha show. But, i really wasn't studying it.

No, it can be confirmed as being used on January 27, 1971 MS. It was used as the intro. Elvis later used it in the middle - and towards the end - of some of the shows in this engagement, but not all. Unfortunately, records are patchy.

It may have been used on the January 26 OS and January 27 DS, but only a few songs from the 26OS have surfaced and none from 27DS.

After this engagement, Also Sprach Zarathustra (its correct title) was used as the opener to every show, beginning in Vegas August 9, 1971 OS all the way through to Indianapolis June 26, 1977.

Despite what many critics say, it is pretentious and incomprehensible - like a lot of director Stanley Kubrick's work. But he can't be blamed - the novel is brilliant, but quite unfilmable.
