I don't mean to be smart . It's just not my story to tell.
It'll be interesting if it can be proven--along with some very mad fans.
I've never understood all the secrecy about so many things.

One more phone call from a friend
Just to say how hard it’s been
How their hopes and dreams have scattered
    With the wind
They don’t see that I’m there too
How it breaks my heart in two
Just to make it through this night’s all I can do

    Help me Lord
I need the sun to drive away
    The shadows in my mind
    Help me Lord
I need someone to guide me
When the path is hard to find
Even though the crowd surrounds me
    I’m still standing all alone
    When I know I can’t go on
    Help me Lord

    As I awake again today
And my pain won’t go away
And the face I have to wear
    Shows a smile
Now my nights are so alone
I just wish I could go home
I don’t know if I can make it another mile

    Help me Lord
I need the sun to drive away
    The shadows in my mind
    Please help me Lord
I need someone to guide me
When the path is hard to find
Even though the crowd surrounds me
    I’m still standing all alone
    When I know I can’t go on
    Help me Lord

    I feel so alone sometimes
The night is quiet for me
I’d love to be able to sleep
I am glad that everyone is gone now
    I’ll probably not rest tonight
I have no need for all of this
    Help me Lord

    Help me Lord
I need the sun to drive away
    The shadows in my mind
    Please help me Lord
I need someone to guide me
When the path is hard to find
Even though the crowd surrounds me
God I am so all alone
    When I know I can’t go on
    Help me Lord

Won’t you come and take me home
    Help me Lord
i'm not trying to start any arguments, here, just wondering, about this song/note. i've read that many in his camp don't believe that this note was actually written by Elvis, but then on Wayne's cd featuring this song, he gives thanks to Epe for giving him the rights to use the note and write this song.

I have to agree with you here Getlo.

Does seem hard to believe any of what she says is true without any evidence whatsoever to back her stories up.

    Did you ask her:

    1. Why hasn't she ever come up with a single picture of her and Elvis together, or any other example of a proper souvenir?

    2. Why does every single one of Elvis' friends and associates claim she is simply making things up?

Two vital questions, I would have thought.

I've seen an interview she's done. Talked to her a few times.
I'm like her though-- I'd never release any tapes I'd done with Elvis.
I've never seen so many people publishing or selling things about him.
To me, it would have to be my memories !
The only thing I disagree with her on: I'd never have told it all in the first place . The people that were around already knows. The rest doesn't matter .

The funny part is she will tell you word for word what Elvis allegedy told her.A transcript if you will.Yet the tapes are private? She already let the cat out of the bag.Why not let us hear it?Unless? No it couldnt be that. Her stories are to nice and fluffy to be phony.

Some don't !! I leave it to her , as she never asked me.
I did tell her I'd never talk about it though . Except with trusted friends.
    It's her problem.

She didn't share much of that in the beginning.
IF I was her, I'd have told them all to kiss my behind and kept my mouth shut ! It's not a nice, friendly world out here ! But, it's her call.

Agreed Getlo. Things just aren't adding up enough for me to believe she has any tapes of her and Elvis.

Doesn't really bother me either way if she's a fake or not. I enjoy reading anything about elvis, but doesn't mean everything is true that she says, but its more like gossip rags to me.

    Help Me Lord

Is that song by Wayne Newton? Sounds like him. Thanks Col. Jon Burrows. Wasn't that a letter that Wayne Newton claimed he found and Elvis wrote it?

Wayne only used that small portion of the note to write the song.

(Going into Face to Face-a "quickie" little bit not used in WR,E. It went along with the section used when he speaks about loving gospel and blues in the interview. It was after midnight Pacific time, he was alone, upstairs playing records and wanted someone to "share" with so he called me knowing I would be up as Jim worked swing shift. His upstairs rooms were soundproofed as his dad and new wife lived there earlier and had fussed about the "noise" all night etc; So Elvis had the best soundproofing installed-also why the den ceiling was carpeted-more soundproofing and doing that, gave Elvis quieter day time sleep too. I don't know where Linda might have been.)

Wanda: So-your favorite music was always gospel and blues-right?
Elvis: Yeah-gospels were-were the...eh, most important to me, how...eh...the feelin', ya know, the feelin' ya get singing them...bein' where it's goin' on an' all. Growin' up listenin' to the radio an' church singin's...tha...that was it for me then...'n blues is jus' the same kinda music with-eh, different kinda words put to it...still feelin's are there an' it's like jus' one and the same if you don' pick out the words, ya know. All music we have today came from there...from blues an' rythum 'n blues...gospels...
Wanda: Who would you say you like to listen to, any one in paticular?
Elvis: Naw...jus' lots of 'em...jus' was listen 'n to Solomon Burke earlier (sings a little bit of Got To Get You Off My Mind) 'member that one?
    Wanda: Yep...
Elvis: Got lots of records, old ones like Etta Jones-know her?
    Wanda: No...what's one she's done?
Elvis: (Humms then sings, "At Last My Love Has Come Along....") 'member?
Wanda: Yes-she has a great style.
Elvis: Yeah...an' Wilson Picket...Midnight Hour 'n If You Love Me Let Me Know It...
Wanda: They play him quite a bit on the station Julie listens to...
Elvis: Roy Tex...(Sings "Better Hold On To What You Got") That's a good one. Jerry Butler (sings a bit of Only The Strong Survive) that's his, ya know.
Wanda: You did it just like he did too, I noticed.
Elvis: When somethin's good, don' mess with it... (Sings I Been Lovin' You So Long baby... Then goes into Lonely Tear Drops...) Know him, huh?
Wanda: Yeah the guy you copied quite a few moves from...Jackie Wilson! I like him alot too.
Elvis (Laughs) Yeah, great guy, (Giggles) Like his moves-huh?
Wanda: Sure...and on you they look pretty good!
Elvis: (Laughs) Thank you darliln'...he got a kick out of seein' me doin' him!
    Wanda: I bet he did!
Elvis: James Brown said I was doin' him too...but wasn't. He came up later on...kinda like his This Is A Man's World...you heard it?
Wanda: Yeah, he was on tv the other day and did that one.
    Elvis: Really...missed it.
Wanda: So who would you say is your favorite?
Elvis: Hard to pick just one...kinda like 'em all but if I had to...gawd...guess it'd have to be... Hell, can't choose just one! Ray Charles...an' Fats...Domino...(sings a bit of Blue Berry Hill almost a verse...then laughs)
Wanda: If you just had a piano!
Elvis: yeah-be glad a don't...couldn't stop me-get me started here.
Wanda: I think that would be great-to sit around listening and watching you play and sing, buddy.
Elvis: Yeah? Well, get your little old self up here 'n we'll do it-jus' me 'n you.
    Wanda: Where are you?
Elvis: Memphis...even got a spare room...if you wanted it...(said in his sultry soft on stage style)
Wanda: Uh-huh...well, this is just as good-and less dangerous...
Elvis: ( Laughs) Not near as fun...'nother time...won't hold ma breath though...(snickers)
Wanda: (Laughs) No...don't think I would if I were you!

Wanda: Do you have things that you regret? Not doing-other than what you have?

E: Sure-everybody does... I'm no different. (Petulant tone of voice)

W: Didn't mean it that way- I know you're not different-in any way that counts.

E: I'm not different in ANY way! I just lead a different kind of life than many-than most people. There are few of us... and many of them out there. That's the only difference. I want the same things they do- it's just given to me in larger portions on account of what I do for a living. Not because I'm.... different!

W: I wasn't trying to put you on the defensive-I know all of that all ready.

E: Okay, I'm not... well; didn't mean to be... defensive. It's it..just I I get tired of explaining ME to people. Know I don't have to with you...it's its habit, maybe.

    W: Yeah....

E: Anway, wish I had been able to do things...like better movies. I'd give anything just about... even if I wasn't the star... played anybody if it was somethin' good...but they never offered... (Col. T. made sure of that).

W: What's one you would have liked- that you really thought about?

E: Oh, lots of 'em. I guess one of the best was Dr. Zivago- I'd of loved playing Urichy - could of done that. I know it! But they wanted somebody who looked more foreign 'n they didn't think with my... Southern bred ness that I could pull it off. I 'd liked to have tried, but they wouldn't let me. An' then I wanted to do "Death Wish". I got the script first! An' they wanted to test...

W: You mean Charles Bronson's film? That one?

E: Yeah-it was good- could have done it and made it work. He did a good job- Hell, it made his career, ya know! I could of done it too.

W: Why didn't you get the role?

E: They said I was....too pretty! (Disgusted tone of voice) Hell! I put make up on, used a scar on my face, did my hair scraggy and wore a black, old turtle neck sweater an' changed my voice 'n looked good! Did the f----in' test- they liked it, then they decided it was too much- with my image an' all, the public wouldn't buy it.
So Bronson walked in-hell, didn't even test him- just got it. Right out from under me! That hurt bad; it was then I realized might as well forget the whole f---, excuse me- thing because they jus' wouldn't give me a chance...gawd...nobody...(He was offered a dramatic role but powers that "were" convinced him to change his mind... and too, he didn't want to do the nude and extended "love" scenes that were in the picture...A Star Is Born, I think it was called...didn't see it.)wjh
