That is something I've never heard, although I did read that he was literally spent after the 2nd show!!! It must have been the heat and the leather suit (here we go again with that **** suit!!!) that caused him to do that!!

According to Bill Belew, Elvis had to almost be cut out of the suit after one of the stand-up shows b/c he had perspired so much!!!!

    BACK ON TOPIC:

I found this interesting article on the '68 Special or more specifically, One Night With You, the Special that was released in 1985 about the '68 Comeback Special.

Elvis sang white christmas during the sit down show? Clips?
"When I was a child, ladies and gentlemen, I was a dreamer. I read comic books, and I was a hero in the movie. So every dream that I ever dreamed has come true a hundred times. I learned very early in life that without a song, the day would never end; without a song, a man ain't got a friend; without a song, the road would never bend; without a song. So I keep singing a song." - Elvis Presley

Tarnelle, darling? I thought he was just slurring out Little Darling! Sooo... who is Tarnelle?

Just pretend, I'm holding you, and whispering things soft and low.
And think of me, how it's gonna be and just pretend I didn't go

It sounds like "Moby Dick" but I have no idea what that's supposed to mean. I believe that much of what he says is supposed to be little inside jokes for him and his guys!!!! But it seems like I heard him say that say phrase on something else, but cannot recall!!!

You know...it always sounded like "Tarnelle"...but I'm with you Lisa, I always interpreted it to be "Little Darling" too.... Heck...who knows??? My motto: He could have called me anything he wanted to...as long as he CALLED me!

I always thought it was 'darling' until I listened to it on my hubby laptop with earphones!!!! Actually it's Scotty Moore that says "Can you sing me that song about Tarnell?" and when Elvis launches into the song, when you gets to the part of "Tarnell" the other musicians start egging him on, razzing him, so I deducted Tarnell was some chick from the 50's that only Scotty and D. J. Fontanta would remember. So, Tarnell, if you do exist, you are one lucky chick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep!!!!!!!!!!! That's the other time I heard him say "Moby Dick." I guess its some sort of inside joke b/c in both instances, it was directed at his guys without further explanation!!!!!!

Think he says "Moby Dick" (the whale) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moby-Dick
Then he grabs the mic stand and threatens to throw it (like a harpoon)
    I may be wrong though
