Loved these, what more can I say?

Just pretend, I'm holding you, and whispering things soft and low.
And think of me, how it's gonna be and just pretend I didn't go

If you are talking about charisma, your right, he never lost it !
"How do I get placed in situations like this? Ah hell, I guess it's all part of showbusiness "~ Elvis in his limo on his way to perform in Omaha, NE on June 19th 1977

At this point it was more about who he was, not what he was. Basically he was just a parody at this time. I really cringe when I hear his voice singing these songs. Ouch.

    .

Tell me, if Elvis had come onto the scene in 1976 or 1977 looking like he did ... do you think anyone would have been screaming or swooning?

    No.

The crowds were swooning because he was Elvis and what he represented from the early days.

What I don't enjoy watching is what a parody the scarf bit had become in 77. If you can remember the earlier years, it wasn't like this at all. It's bothersome to me to watch Charlie just follow him around tossing them out every 5 seconds. That part, to me, is a real parody.

It was sad to see Elvis like this. He needed a change and sadly it never happened. The Col should have been shot for letting him going in front of cameras like that. Always worried about the $ instead of worrying about Elvis' health.
"When I was a child, ladies and gentlemen, I was a dreamer. I read comic books, and I was a hero in the movie. So every dream that I ever dreamed has come true a hundred times. I learned very early in life that without a song, the day would never end; without a song, a man ain't got a friend; without a song, the road would never bend; without a song. So I keep singing a song." - Elvis Presley
