68 Comeback Special
70 That's the Way it is
73 Aloha Special
77 Elvis in Concert
Definitely the 77 concert cause he might have not looked that well but was vocally at his best!
Exaclty agree with you a 100% on this one ThreeCorn. He sounded a 100 times stronger and better that in 1973. He was getting better and better with age. I don't wanna sound braggy about this Erhan but I'm a professional opera singer, with good ears and know what I'm talking about.
For me, anyway, this is simple: That's the Way It Is. Elvis was polished, relaxed on stage, still raw at times vocally, yet also gentle and even powerful. IMHO, Elvis emerged as the complete entertainer with TTWII.
IM
68 tv special, just because of the times, the way he looked and sounded, the nervousness of his performance, and the
stepping stone to the road back to greatness, He epitomised coolness, And does anyone EVER tire of 'IF I CAN DREAM'
That performance will live forever.
Of those listed it would be the 68 Special BUT why has the greatest performance of any artist ever been omitted from this poll.? Surely the 69 concert from The International surpasses the dizzying heights of those listed?
As for me, Elvis' Aloha from Hawaii concert was mesmerizing. His vocals were excellent and his ability as a showman was captivating. The entire production was very well displayed.
The various dates depict Elvis Elvis at various points in his life so I don't believe one can truly compare performances so far apart. A performer at 21 will have a differentg interpretation and vocal ability than a performer at 40. Maybe a comparison of Elvis' performances/concerts at their respective time period would be a better indicator of exemplifying which concerts were his best.
for me, it was TTWII, he had all that nervous energy, just bouncing around and getting so comfortable on stage - with the audience especially, watching the interaction just gives me goosebumps, I can just imagine myself there. His voice is so energetic.
It wasn't on the list - but MSG would be my second.
Just pretend, I'm holding you, and whispering things soft and low.
And think of me, how it's gonna be and just pretend I didn't go
For the 'Iconic' performance.....it has to be Aloha, the mass audience, a performer at the top of his game.......
personally as much as he looked HOT in the leathers......it has to be TTWII. Variety of songs, he looked fab, sounded amazing.........
