    Elvis' Heigth

Ok, so from everything that I've read and have heard, Elvis' heigth was 5'11" and he was 6' with boots/lifts... right? So, he was about average heigth. That brings this question... is it just me or did he surround himself with alot of short people... Charlie Hodge, Joe Esposito, etc.... ?

Actually.....5 ft. 9 inches is the average height for a man. The 2 men you mention became Elvis' friends while he was in the army...simply by chance. If he were trying to help himself...how would you explain Jerry Schilling, who was both tall and good looking?

Well, Rosanne, he needed some good looking dude to get the attention of the chicks when they were down in the casino in Vegas and I guess Charlie and Joe didn't 'bring it' as they like to say........

Actually...I think Elvis could "bring it" without any help. Charlie actually did have women approaching him because he was soooo nice. He was always one of the kindest and most patient of all the bunch.

I didn't mean to sound as though he purposely did this. I just thought it was kinda funny and odd?

Not all of Elvis's entourage were short in stature. Both Red and Sonny and Lamar were close to Elvis's height.

I have also read this somewhere.
    5'9 is about my heigth.
I always imagined that he was taller than me and when I saw the jumpsuits at Graceland I also got this impression....
So my impression must have been wrong.

He was probably closer to 6' 1" with the lifts in his boots. He wore them both off-stage and on-stage.

From nearly every book I have read, it's says 6', and his Dad was 6'2, Elvis weren';t that far off his father so i guess he was in the 6ft range.

If you are 5' 9" tall, then yes, Elvis was taller than you, by a good 3 inches. My father was 6 ft. and every summer in Vegas we were not more than a few feet away from Elvis, so it was easy to tell that he was about 6 ft. tall.

    Thanks.
You saved my day (or rather evening )

But since there have been mentionings of his heigth beeing 5'9´' I was wondering...

Since I'm from Germany I also converted the mesurements.
    5'9'' would be 1,75m .
    Seemed real small to me.

But if he really was about 3 inches higher than me, my Graceland-Imressions were right.

No one mentioned his height being 5'9" ...

Depending on the source, the average height for an white American male is 5'10" or so.

I believe Elvis was around the 5'10-11 area.
"When I was a child, ladies and gentlemen, I was a dreamer. I read comic books, and I was a hero in the movie. So every dream that I ever dreamed has come true a hundred times. I learned very early in life that without a song, the day would never end; without a song, a man ain't got a friend; without a song, the road would never bend; without a song. So I keep singing a song." - Elvis Presley

My Dad would have reported Elvis to be smaller than him. My Dad was 1m 80 at the time then. My Dad never liked Elvis but he saw him several times durnig his army time in germany.
