Peacock jumpsuit on the auction block.

A spectacular auction of over 400 lots featuring rare, never before seen memorabilia including handwritten lyrics and letters, stage worn costumes, personal clothing, rare concert posters and photographs, and so much more from the icons of rock and pop: The Beatles, Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe, The Rolling Stones, Madonna, Bob Dylan, Led Zeppelin, Britney Spears, Johnny Cash, The Grateful Dead, Buddy Holly and more, is scheduled for next Summer at www.Gottahaveit.com

Two auction highlights are Elvis’s 1967 Clambake Millionaire suit, and the King’s favorite jumpsuit, the famous ‘Peacock’.

I don't get it?? I thought that suit was at the Elvisarama museum in Las Vegas along with the Turquoise Phoenix and I also thought that EPE had bought this museum & it's content? I know the Turquoise Phoenix is at the jumpsuit expo in Memphis but why not this one?? Anybody can shed some light here? Maybe I am completely wrong, but I have a picture of the two suits side by side, unless there were two Turquoise. Also, anybody knows if Graceland still have the Dark blue with White Phoenix suit? In the expo pictures I think I only saw the white w balck phoenix, the white w red and the white w Turquoise.

This is such a beautiful suit

Is it true that Elvis said this was his favorite jumpsuit of them all?

This is a VERY interesting article...

SUPPOSEDLY the millionaire suit from the movie CLAMBAKE was cut into swatches for inclusion in the 1971 box set THE OTHER SIDES - WORLDWIDE GOLD AWARD HITS VOL. 2.

I wonder what the deal is with that, unless he had a couple of those suits made for the film???

Maybe it's just myth but I have read that in several places. I have always wondered, if it is true, when he might have declared that as that seems to have some bearing on its complete truth.

In other words, in 1960 he named a couple of his favorite songs which may not have been the ones he would have chosen a few years later.

If the suit was his favorite, I wonder why he did not wear it later on, as he did with some other suits from '74 (with some alterations, I believe).

BTW, great point about the Clambake suit, Mike. Why am I thinking I have seen that on display somewhere though? You know, it does seem likely that more than one would be made for a film like that.

I'm sure that is the explanation...that more than one suit was made for filming!

Since I don't know much about the suits: how come there are suits NOT owned by EPE? When were those suits sold (asuming that Elvis didn't gave them away)?

Paul Lichter owned the Red Matador (Burning Love Suit), Star Suit (1971), Peacock and the Light Blue Phoenix. He auctioned them off in the late 1990's and I believe all were purchased seperately by private collectors.

No idea about the Clambake suit. Being cut up for the bonus included with the RCA boxset sounds really familiar though.
If your an Elvis fan, no explanation is necessary....
If your not, no explanation is possible!
