What's Your Favorite Elvis "Acoustic Guitar"

I've always liked the acoustic guitars that Elvis used on stage, especially in the early - mid 70's.

Do you have a favorite acoustic guitar?

Mine is the Gibson Ebony Dove model that he used from 1971 - 1973, July 1975. Such a beautiful instrument, especially with the signature fret board and the kenpo karate sticker.

I personally wish he'd brought out another of this type in 76-77.

Not knowing too much about which guitar is which I went back to RaisedOnRock's guitar thread.

I like the one in the pictures below because it was pretty! Seriously, I know enough about guitars to know that the J200 was not some playtoy, but the way Elvis had it customized - the guitar looked great on stage - it had a presence that IMO, matched it's owner!

My favorite would be the Blonde Gibson J200. But I must admit....the Ebony J200 is a real beauty!!!

Personally, I'd have to pick both the Gibson J-200 & the Ebony Dove as my favorites.

(RS277: The Gibson J-200 & Ebony Dove are totally two different "makes" of guitars. They're not the same).

I love that Sunburst color scheme as well.

The Martins are fantastic instruments but to me there is nothing sexier (guitar-wise, that is) than a Gibson J200...take your pick.
...you won't forget me when I go.

Has anyone ever noticed how "out of tune" his guitar sounded on some recordings?

Check out the FT Baxter cd Moody Blue and Other Great Performances...it really sounds out of whack. It even sounds a bit off (at least to my ears) on the FTD cd Spring Tours 77.
