    Aloha Picture Request

    Hi,
Does anyone have a GOOD QUALITY full picture of the one that was used for Aloha From Hawaii front cover? The full picture was also on the innersleeve of some on the Burning Love And Hits From His Movies lp releases( the one that included the bonus photo).
    THANKS!!!

I don't have the photo but I've always found it odd that they didn't use a photo from the actual concert for the Aloha cover. The MSG LP is the only album cover (besides "On Stage") where RCA used an actual concert picture on the cover.

That picture quality looks pretty "sharp" to me. That's actually the first time I've seen the "full" picture.

I have always found that beyond odd. ESPECIALLY for this concert. The biggest thing he had ever done...wearing an iconic jumpsuit that would become synonymous with the name Elvis Presley. I sure would enjoy an explanation for this picture choice.

I find it weird that they used a pic from "Aloha" (he's singing "Can't Stop Loving You", I believe) for the "Fool" album later that year.....

The Aloha album was ready to go well beforehand. The last thing to be done was the partial song listing on the back. But, yes, they probably could have found time to use an actual photo.

Huh? TT, perhaps I misunderstand you here, but you do know that the MSG cover was from Jacksonville, and not NYC? Or are you referring to the Afternoon CD?

And there are several FTD releases that use actual concert photos, and these should be included in the RCA/BMG pantheon.

What was Elvis' weight in the Detriot pic? My goodness he looks really heavy.
"When I was a child, ladies and gentlemen, I was a dreamer. I read comic books, and I was a hero in the movie. So every dream that I ever dreamed has come true a hundred times. I learned very early in life that without a song, the day would never end; without a song, a man ain't got a friend; without a song, the road would never bend; without a song. So I keep singing a song." - Elvis Presley

He wasn't terribly heavy during '72....it's most likely due to the angle that the picture was taken and the way he was standing that makes him look that way.

I never understood why they used this photo. It's just another case of the Colonel being impatiant with the LP release. I believe he had them all printed before the concert ever took place.
There was two first taken place. A via Satellite show around the "world" and a new Quadraphonic Stereo Album. Meaning you could hear the different musicians in 4 separate speakers instead of 2. The cover photo and inside tacky cutout picture of him with the Hawaiian girls look like they might have been from the, Elvis On Tour movie.

They weren't taken directly from "Elvis On Tour". The AFH cover shot is from Detroit, MI on April 6, 1972 and the fake shot of Elvis surrounded by the Hawaiian girls is from Jacksonville, FL.

You guys are right, no excuse for not using many of the iconic photos of Elvis, from the Aloha show! I also didn't like the fact that they chose not to use a photo of EP from MSG, instead using a pic from the Jacksonville show, for the original live album release. Problem could have been, like Getlo said, time might have been against them, since they got these live albums out quick. MSG was released 11 days after being recorded live, unbelievable!
