Trial sepration

I have not read " elvis and me" but I read an article in wikipedia that elvis suggested a " trial sepration " to cilla when she was pregnant. What was the situation that caused him to do so ? was he unsure of their marriage or was there an other reason ?
I will be glad to know your ideas on this subject. thanks in advance.

Yes, this is true. As for why...well, Cilla passed it off as a combination of his 'being under pressure', fear of fatherhood, and his 'moodiness'. Guess it's up to the individual to decide which, if any, of these they would blame it on. Personally, I think that he wasn't into the marriage from the get-go...and I think that he had moments, perhaps many of them, where he wished he hadn't been pushed into the whole thing. Just my opinion though...some will disagree.

Reading your thoughts about the marriage ....I could not help but think of the words from the movie "Coal Miner's Daughter"...and wonder if Elvis ever felt the same.

Reading your thoughts about the marriage ....I could not help but think of the words from the movie "Coal Miner's Daughter"...and wonder if Elvis ever felt the same.

Good point Carole, and a great quote from a fantastic movie. Sissy Spacek won the Oscar that year for that role. Little bit of trivial FYI....Sissy Spacek grew up in a little town the size of our town, just 25 miles down the road. We were in the same district actually, she and my sister-n-law were friends, often competing against each other in certain events. She still comes home several times a year.

My hard to get along with sister-n-law actually had the audacity(and stupidity) to announce to everyone that this guy was a thousand times better looking than Elvis on his best day. And, before you ask...I'm sure it was said for my benefit.

I had forgotten how tacky that movie was Rape??? That's quite a word to use knowing your daughter is going to hear and read that. Another small thing......3 Summer Festivals for me and I never heard any chanting....Elvis...Elvis...Elvis.

I didn't like this book. I liked the movie even less.

In all fairness, I'd say neither of them were ready or had any clue what marriage was all about. {of course, how many of us do?}
To live with someone as long as they did before marriage--you'd think both might at least suspect what each other wanted .

I really don't think elvis was ready for the changes that were coming, but to be honest nobody knows what was going though elvis mind at the time and knew what kind of thoughts he had at the time. The only person who knows is elvis and he's not here so this will be another unsolved mysterys of elvis life.

Well, you are right about that Jen...Elvis is the only one who would know for sure. However...I think that he made it evident through certain things he said, and the things that he did while married to her, that he wasn't really into the marriage. JMO...

Do ya think??If I am 7 months pregnant and my hubs mentions and suggests a trial seperation, then I have a little bit of a clue that......he's just not that into me.

I think the only person who could of understood elvis better than any other woman would be ann, she being famous knew more about the demands of the everyday pressures that elvis was feeling and felt.

In his MSG interview from June of 72....he called the female reporters "honey".Now days they would roast him for that. However...he could have called me "honey" anytime he wanted to.

You know...Elvis did love the women...that's no secret. But I often think that it wasn't his time to marry...and therefore he just couldn't settle down with one. Oh I know...all of his women were cheated on right...?...but still...had he not died so early in his life, I find it believable that he might have settled right down a little later on in his life. I just don't think it would have been with Pris....
