The Elvis Fan Club in Leicester, Elvisly Yours in London, The Essential Elvis Magazine and the former Elvis Express in Brighton...It's a tag-team match of total controversy which has turned the UK Elvis Fandom into a money-grabbing joke!
In the red corner - The Elvis Fan Club in Leicester & The Essential Elvis Magazine.
In the blue corner - Elvisly Yours in London & The former Elvis Express in Brighton.
I think it is a more harmonic and peaceful world for Elvis fans in the USA...think I'll eventually move there just so that I can rely on Fan Clubs and Club Leaders who are in it for one thing only, and his initials are E.P.
What's your view?

I think that they are all in in for the money to a certain extent...but some alot more than others.
The UK Fan Club....to which i used to belong many years ago does some good work. Gives good offers to its members...some of which are exclusives ( so they say ) but still doesn't give enough to warrant me ( and many others i would guess) staying members.
Elvis Today is the only thing i subscribe to at present...and i haven't recieved anything from those in some time![]()
Elvisly Yours is nothing but a money making scam....and always has been. Dealing in largly 'tacky' t-shirts...plates....cups...you name it, elvisly yours sells it![]()
Each to there own though....Elvisly yours must sell one hell of an amount...or else they would no longer be around. Mr Sid Shaw....made a packet from taking EPE to court ( well it was the other way around ) and winning...allowing him to sell items with the logo 'Elvisly yours' Bet that really annoyed EPE...and i'm not suprised![]()

Yes, it is certainly turning into a brutally cut-throat business especially in the UK. I have never met any of the people who own/run these organisations but I have certainly heard a lot of stories/rumours about them all and the great lengths they have gone to outdo each other.
I remember many years ago there was a big stink about Elvisly Yours coming on the Elvis scene and that seemed to pour Ketchup on the Elvis Fan Club's pie and mash - to coin a phrase!
And, of recent times I heard that the Essential Elvis troops played a hand in virtually closing down the Elvis Express in Brighton. I remember someone telling me about the owner of the Elvis Express who appeared to be a bit of a wind-up merchant and was trying to undercut Essential Elvis' prices on CD's, DVD's, etc. So, I was led to believe that it was like the old school all over again - The Elvis Fan Club versus Elvisly Yours.
The King is dead...Long Live The King....but not his UK Fan Clubs at the rate they are going!!!
I don't know the situation in the UK, but it is a thing that happens too often: people gather together to do something. First it's all fun and the shared interest is the main reason to stick together. Then suddenly money gets involved and then the politics. When dividing money things like "I should get more, because I have invested more time (or money)!" come around the corner.
And slowly but surely the fun factor is gone and things are done for money. People who did things for free are asking money, 'because that other guy also gets money for the work he'd done'.
When fanclubs are getting bigger and bigger, you simply can't hold back these problems. You read things everywhere, not only in Elvis land. Sad but true....
