Visitors of the ElvisMatters Record Fair in Belgium, were in for a surprise yesterday. The Top item of last weekend's auction in Las Vegas - the 90.000 $US Ram's Head Necklace - is now in the hands of one of our members. Yesterday, the owner of this unique 14 k gold piece decorated with diamonds and emeralds, brought the treasure with him to the record fair, for everybody to see. Due to security reasons, we couldn't announce this special picture opportunity in advance. However, if you've missed the record fair, we offer you a second chance on our Member's Area.
From the auction catalogue:
FROM THE GINGER ALDEN ELVIS PRESLEY COLLECTION: Elvis Presley loved jewelry and this piece is possibly the largest and one of the best known gold necklaces that Elvis Presley owned and wore, as seen in various photos from the seventies. This 14k gold necklace features a ram's head motif on a large link 26-inch neck chain.
The large center ram's head pendant has two 3mm cabochon cut emerald eyes and nine brilliant cut diamonds down the center of the head. Two smaller ram's heads each have 1 1/2 mm cabochon cut emerald eyes and six brilliant cut diamonds down the center of the heads.
The 21 brilliant cut diamonds weigh approx 1.0 ct. The necklace weighs approx 291 grams. Elvis kept this piece at his home, Graceland, and gave it to his fiancee Ginger in 1977 as they stood inside the dressing area to his bathroom. As he placed it around Ginger's neck, Elvis told her to "Always wear it with something black."

I know elvis was a kind man, but l can't help but wonder why ginger had this necklace?
Same here Jen..can't figure out how come she had so much when she was with Elvis so little!
Diane
Thank you presley31for this information.
I dream a world where man no other man
will scorn. Where LOVE will bless the earth
and peace its paths adorn...
I saw a picture of that necklace, and it's huge...definitely something to be worn on stage. It sure doesn't look like something a woman would ever wear...or even a man if it weren't a part of his stage clothing.
well it looks reall nice but again i don't know how she ended up with it can't see elvis giving it to her its not something a woman would wear but hey thanks for the info
