    Interview With Sonny West

This is too long or I would have just copied it. IMO, more was going on "inside" than many knew about the firing of some MM.

"i have never known the real reason. i wanted elvis to tell me why. vernon said it was to cut back on expenses but that wasn't it at all. he paid ed parker and sam thompson a salary so we were replaced by people. so it wasn't that. i heard it was the law suits. i only had one in sixteen years , and that when i took a guy out because he was going to beat up david Stanley . i nailed the guy and knocked him out. he sued , that was in tahoe. i heard that , red had three or four law suits , because of fights . normally it was with drunks , not the fans. they were smart *** people. I will agree with Sonny that the "cutback on expenses" for Vernon was just a very lame excuse to get rid of Red and Sonny and Dave. Sonny and Red loved Elvis dearly, and they still do today. There is most likely much more behind the firing of Sonny & Red & Dave than any of us will ever know....and that includes Sonny and Red and Dave.

Don't think there will be much sympathy anyplace.
But, if Sonny is telling the truth.....it might show how some others tried to cause trouble and manipulate things.
    They were a crude bunch.

I believe that (in regards to the firing) Sonny is telling as much of the truth as he himself knows. I still don't think for one second that Sonny or Red or Dave know the true reason behind why Vernon fired them.

    You might be right.
It would help to look into the motives of the ones that remained.
I'll see what I can find.

I wonder what else is behind the firing of Sonny and Red West? I have to agree, I think there's more to it than just cutbacks...

Did they get along with Vernon?

It wasn't just Sonny and Red & Dave that he disliked. Vernon hated all the guys being around Elvis because that just meant that he'd have to pay more people

    Liana,

The only girl I ever remember Vernon (as well as the rest of the MM) disliking was Ginger Alden.....

Whatever you think. I'm sure neither of us know.
