How do you know it makes fun of Elvis? How do you know it won't be a satire on the whole "Elvis is alive" crap, something which Sonny finds bewildering and annoying?

When Elvis Met Nixon also made fun of Elvis, but most reasonable fans liked it; it was genuinely funny and made with love.

For all you know, this might well be too.

Probably an unfair comment. Some of the best movies ever made had a cast of unknowns.

ike the Stanley film a while back, Protecting The King. The trailer made it look like crapola, but I refused to say anything until I had watched the whole movie (which, in this case, turned out to be the first half hour, which was all I could take).

No one here can assess this film until it is actually viewed in its entirety!

And FYI: Sonny West is far from broke; and he has never said it was all Elvis' fault. Not once.
That's why Trailers are put out. To entice the viewer to watch.
I can assess the film if I like, so I did.

My poor son-in-law brought me Stanley's movie to watch.
I was right; it was nothing but trash.

Well, there is a porn star called Teagan Presley. I wonder if she's related? Hmm, it's probably not her real name anyway ...

(Actually, her bio says the "Presley" is a tribute to Lisa, not Elvis).

She was in a movie called Flesh Hunter 7. I got a bit lost while watching it, as I hadn't seen the first six!

(An old joke, but it still makes me laugh ... )

So movie reviewers are probably wasting their time by watching entire films then? Maybe they should just watch the trailers to make a full and frank assessment of any film? Like you have done.

You didn't though. You assessed the trailer.

I'm not a movie reviewer .I just know what I like.

I assessed Stanley's movie the same way; and I was right.

Far as I have ever seen the trailers always show the BEST part of films.
If true to the usual form....that doesn't say much for the rest of this one.

I will never forget you Rosanne.

I was thinking the same thing Carole... Maybe their line of thinking was....let's preview the absolute worst parts of this film, that way the people will really enjoy it when they see it"....

this is not going to be one of those `best movies with unknown casts'.
The preview clips are enough evidence to prove that

The trailer isnt that promising to be sure. However as Getlo stated it's unfair to judge the entire film from it.I cant think of a dumber plot than Bubba Tep,yet that turned out to be a quite good film that has developed cult status away from Elvis' fan base. This film probably wont be near as good but I havent seen it so I cant say.Im sure the whole thing is tongue in cheek.I would venture a guess the film is a satire about the Elvis is alive subject. That certainly deserves to be ridiculed. No matter what it's about it's important to remember that Elvis Presley is not above satire or ridicule. No entertainer is or the president for that matter.Any public figure or personailty is open to it.You may not like it,but nobody has the right to prevent anyone from making something like this.Freedom of speech and expression. It's a good thing.

I prefer to wait until I will have watched the whole film, it must not always
be the case that they are making fun of Elvis. Although the trailer wasn't
    encouraging.....but hope dies last

You're correct. It's not always the case that they're making fun of Elvis. Sonny still loves and respects Elvis to this very day (in spite of what others may think) and as Sandi (sanditcb) said earlier, it's purely a fantasy film....it's not like this would actually happen.

    Obviously, I disagree .
I read Sonny's book. Sonny loves and looks out for Sonny. Period.
Sandi and I disagree . She's been sold a bill of goods too.

Some of the fans will always be impressed with the ones that say they knew Elvis. From what I've seen; very few knew Elvis .They just took what he was willing to give....and 30 years later; they're still taking.

Everyone has a right to their opinion, you're right.
    I'm just expressing mine.

I have formed the same view on Sonny.

I don't know if I would call it 'impressed', but I tend to believe that those
who were definitive around Elvis should know him best. At least better than
we do, or were you around?
The fact that Elvis has died doesn't mean his friends have died as well. They
had to live on and for some of them it sure wasn't easy. Some of them
wanted to talk about their friend Elvis and the time they spent together.
I can't see anything wrong with it.
I haven't read Sonny's book yet, but I assume if it is about incidents he
experienced with Elvis it seems probable that Sonny is also mentioned
    here and there .

I'll let you read it yourself, Miss Claudy.
And his opinions and blame he puts on everyone but himself.

IMO, they've all had their say about Elvis. What else can he have to say?
Some have lived off Elvis all these years. It didn't stop when he died.
Others have got themselves a real job.

I agree. We weren't there...we don't know the half of what went on or what each of them went through during their time working for Elvis. They were there---none of us were and we shouldn't pass judgement on them.

It's time we give them a break.

    GREAT POST!
Sonny's book is a must read...unlike the "whitewashed" "Me And A Guy Named Elvis", by Jerry Schilling.

I guess some folks thought that Red and Sonny and Joe and Billy and Marty and Lamar were supposed to crawl in a hole and stay there after he died. In case some don't know, they all went back to working normal jobs (in the case of Red and Sonny and Dave and Marty it was before) after Elvis died.

I just think they should "get a job" and leave Elvis to RIP.
They've made enough monry off Elvis Presley.
