    New found respect for Elvis!

I've been listening to the Elvis 13 Sirius radio channel alot today on a free 3-day trial. I never knew he had that many songs. I liked how they have the kids and teenagers to do the lead-in to the next song by saying "this is so and so from so and so live here at Graceland on Sirius radio". I remember seeing that booth when we were there last summer.

Alot of the stuff they played was pretty cool. I heard this beautiful song called 'You'll Never Walk Alone' and that I've never heard before. That song really moved me to tears. I have grown a new respect for the man and his music. And what a soulful voice! His 50's stuff was the best!

My only knock on the music is that it's definitely dated soundwise. I guess that's because it's 40 something years old. But I liked alot of the songs I heard that I hadn't heard before. The man was definitely a gifted person and much more than just a "hits" artist.

Glad you decided to give the free trial period from Sirius a try Mark!!

I am actually a big supporter of the all-Elvis channel on Sirius since I decided to give the free trial period a try myself. I was always toying with the idea of joining Sirius but I didn't want to have to buy all the equipment AND the subscription to the service. But once they started offering the internet subscription option, I jumped right on the free 3-day trial period!!! Then of course, once the trial period was over, I immediately subscribed!!! They play a great mix of music, although they do occasionally repeat some of the more popular songs a little too often for my taste. But other than that, I love it! I am a big fan of George Klein, so I really enjoy his shows on Friday afternoon and Sunday evening. I know that he occasionally gives himself a little too much credit for things that happened in Elvis' life and he does get some of his stories mixed up, but he is just enjoyable to listen to in my opinion and it's especially great to listen to him because HE WAS THERE!!! And sadly, there aren't too many of those people left in the world...

Definitely give some consideration to the internet subscription offer Mark....for me, it's $13 per month well invested!!!

    TCB!

You are 100%% correct about that and that's what some of us have been saying for a long time now. But be prepared because the anti-remixers will be out on the rebound to defend it and say it's fine as it is.

Glad you joined the Elvis family that we have here. You will find more songs that he sang that will really move you. Elvis sang so many different types of music and thats why he is the greatest. I love Sirius 13 and the one story I heard on there that was a real cool story was the one when an audience memember put their son on stage and he was dressed in a jumpsuit like Elvis was and Elvis saw that he didnt have a cape so he took his cape off and gave it to the kid.
"When I was a child, ladies and gentlemen, I was a dreamer. I read comic books, and I was a hero in the movie. So every dream that I ever dreamed has come true a hundred times. I learned very early in life that without a song, the day would never end; without a song, a man ain't got a friend; without a song, the road would never bend; without a song. So I keep singing a song." - Elvis Presley

Welcome aboard Mark! You will love it here. As for the Sirius radio thing...AIN'T IT COOL???? I've got it on DishNetwork, so I listen to Elvis as much as I can. Unfortunately for me, the others in my home don't share my 'fanatically Elvis' attitude, sooooo....I don't get to listen as much as I'd like. But it really is a great way to hear all of his music. Keep rockin'!!!!

Daddy, I miss you more every day. You will always be my hero..

I find that hard to believe. For one thing, EP never threw his capes into the audience until the Aloha show. And he only wore them for another tour in June and July of 1973 and retired them for good. I think some fans love to exaggerate about things that never happened but feel that they are somehow special by telling these fabricated stories.

SO, if you feel so strongly about this issue, why don't you stop pretending to be a so called, "Elvis fan", leave for good and go join another forum where you and others can share your love for your so beloved hip hop urban remixes ???

I think remixes should not be done but to digitally enhance them well thats great. For example how will making a remix will sound better than the original version of Suspicious Minds? I know they didnt make one for it but I am just using a example.

I do not like hip hop music so why would I want EP's music to sound like it? I have said this before and I will say it again-I WOULD LIKE TO SEE THEM TAKE HIS LESSER KNOWN SONGS INTO THE STUDIO AND RE-RECORD THE BACKING MUSIC TO THE LEVEL ON MODERN DAY STANDARDS-NOT RAP MUSIC.

I have heard the re- recordings of some of Elvis' music and his voice always seems drowned out.

The anti-remixers discuss how anyone that has to have a hip-hop remix to discover and enjoy Elvis must have a brain the size of an English pea. Either that.....or they are still running around in training pants.

Mark, when a person really gets into Elvis' music, his genius along with that incredible voice, really hits home.

    Glad you are enjoying it!!!

Like I said earlier, it's really a great deal....only $13 a month and you don't have to buy any of the equipment to pick up Sirius....you can just listen through your computer. And at any point, if you decide to cancel your subscription, you can without having spent a whole bunch of money on equipment that will then be no good without the subscription to the service!!

    KEEP ON ROCKIN'!!!

I'm not an "anti-remixer" but most of his stuff does sound fine. It is Elvis Presley music. No one is remixing Sinatra to try and come up with a "new dance club hit" or trying to grab the next generation. It is Sinatra music, as it was recorded. You could not grab a new generation by having a dozen of the best remixers in the world try. You could draw some attention to his name by trying and hopefully people would explore "Sinatras original music"
Thats the way it is with an Elvis remix-you can draw some attention to his name-but it they do not explore and accept his original sound you did not gain anything. Because no matter how much remixing is talked up-you can not remix his whole catalogue. In 10 years the few remixes that worked would be out of date. Then you have to try remixing again for another group-each time you water down what made Elvis great-what made him the most successful solo recording artist (single and albums) in the world.
But time will also tell on this front. The great remix ALLC was several years ago-there has been no great flocking of young people to Elvis as I pointed out. Remixes have a place-but they will never overshadow the original music in any way shape or form. IMO

Welcome to the Elvis family, Mark! It's nice to see a younger person take the time to listen to and study up on Elvis, rather than rely on hearsay and stereotypes to form their opinions.

Yesterday, I was talking to a teenager I work with about music and the greatest artists ever, and Elvis came up. Of course, his knock against Elvis was that he didn't write his own music. I told him how deeply involved Elvis was in the production of his music, and how diverse he was - illustrated by the fact that he's the only artist to be inducted into 3 halls of fame - rock, country and gospel. His eyebrows raised and he admitted, "Gosh, I guess Elvis IS one of the greatest musical artists ever."

LISTEN and READ. That's all you have to do.
YOU LOOKIN' FOR TROUBLE? YOU CAME TO THE RIGHT PLACE.
