How many jumpsuits did Elvis have?

How many jumpsuits and stage costumes did Elvis have?

I've seen so many pics of him in all these different suits, so I was wonderin how many in all he actually had.

I think his suits were fabulous and unique. They all seem to have a theme as well.

The suits that these impersonators be wearin don't even come close to what Elvis actually wore.

His suits were much more stylish and creative, imo.

Over 90 that I counted in the gallery and:
As long as we're discussing outfits, how did they come by their names? Was it from concerts, or songs, I understand that some were named by the designer and then fans renamed them. There was a thread, but I don't recall that it went into great detail about the naming of costumes.

Just pretend, I'm holding you, and whispering things soft and low.
And think of me, how it's gonna be and just pretend I didn't go

I don't know the exact number but I have heard that there were as many as 245 or so. But I don't know how accurate that is. When I was last at Graceland back in 1995 I asked one of the tour guides and they said something about 200. Here's something to think about. EP spent an average of $5,000.00 per jumpsuit. That would be about $25,000 for one today.

You need to remember that from 1970 to around 1973, Elvis had two to three of the same suit. Example: Aloha American Eagle has three suits. Wing Fringed had two. So unless we have paperwork on all of the suits that was made we really can't say how many he had.

It's amazing to think he had so many jumpsuits. The recent Jumpsuits All Access magazine was fantastic but I would love to see a expanded hard cover book with many of the missing suits from the mag.

Plus great text and on stage pics of the king wearing the suits. In addition to album cover art– this would be all killer and no filler!

The book could contain a possible 200 suits and some of my favourites would be: The Peacock suit,Mad Tiger,The Memphis suit [1974],Cisco Kid,Orange Target suit [Raised On Rock],American Eagle,Aloha suit, and the leather 2-piece outfits [Mermaid, wine glass] from 74'

Finally, this would be a big seller promoted right along the same lines as the excellent book by Julie Mundy called, ELVIS FASHION.I hope it becomes a reality!

What's so fascinating is how each suit was designed to tell a story. For instance the American Eagle was to be asemble of his love for his country. The Indian suit (from the From Elvis Prelsey Boulevard LP cover) was a semble of his Indian blood. The peakock represented eternal life. Not all of them had a relation to his personal life. But they told a hidden story of some kind. How Ironic that the red Matedore (Burning Love suit) was debuted at the same time that Burning Love was recorded. The only red suit he ever wore during the concert years.
