    The story of Nipper

The logo of record company RCA Victor, also known as 'His Masters Voice', is one of the most famous pictures of the last century.
Not many people know that the name of the dog on the painting is Nipper.
Even less known is the fact that Nipper was a real dog and lived in Liverpool.
Nipper had 3 bosses, the brothers Barraud.
Francis always was amused to see how the dog was looking strange at his master's gramophone wondering where the voice was coming from.
Some years later Francis painted the scene.
Nipper was inherited by brother Phillip who was a photographer with a shop at 92 Bold Street in Liverpool.
The painting ended up with the record company and the rest is history.
Fun fact is that none of the three brothers ever made a recording, so 'His Masters Voice' is not correct.
On the picture, we see the one and only Nipper, the famous logo, Francis and his painting, Elvis with Nipper who was used as a prop in the fifties and Nippers home, today a comic book store.
Some of you all never been down South too much...
I'm gonna tell you a little story, so you'll understand where I'm talking about

I knew the dog's name was Nipper but didn't know the story behind him. Thanks for that information. I've always loved that dog! Years ago there was an RCA exhibition in our local shopping mall in Salem, Oregon and they had two similar live dogs there...one was supposedly Nipper and the other a smaller younger dog was Skipper (Nipper's son)....both very cute dogs.

A few years back I was in an antique shop and they had a one of the original Nipper's in their store. It was priced at several thousand dollars as you can imagine.

If you're an Elvis Fan no explanation is necessary.
If you're not, no explanation is possible :
