    Elvis's Divorce Settlement

Why do you think Elvis allowed Pricilla so much??? I mean she was getting "14,200.00 per month!!! (for ten years) Then half the sale of the Hillcrest House ($225,000) And he had paid to have her apartment decorated in Pacific Palasades. Then 5% of the income from the new publishing company.
Man, the women made out like a bandit!

elvis was a thoughtful man even though his wife did the dirty on him. I think priscilla was in disagreement with what was offered first and elvis wasn't going to see lisa till he payed her what she wanted, which IMO is the greedy thing ever.

You are right Jen. Using a child as a pawn is the lowest of low, unfortunately alot of women do it

Elvis' Divorce Lawyer DiedHarry M. Fain, a pioneering family law attorney who helped bring no-fault divorce to California in 1970 and handled the high-powered breakups of such celebrity marriages as Elvis Presley, Cary Grant and Ali McGraw, died Friday of pneumonia at a skilled nursing facility in Los Angeles. He was 88.

In his practice, Fain preferred settlement over litigation. The attorney praised Presley, his client, when the singer reached an out-of-court agreement in 1973 to pay his wife, Priscilla, nearly $1.5 million.

"This man agreed to pay her this without any contest because he wanted to be generous and make her happy," Fain said in a 1973 Times article. "I never met a man so unselfish."

I know Elvis was generous to a fault, but I don't believe what that lawyer said.

    me either Missy
Bottom line priscilla got greedy and used her own fresh and blood to get more money from elvis. Elvis was not to see or talk to lisa till she saw the money come in.

To me generous would be about half or 1/3 of what she got. I know it was California and all but what did she do to deserve that kind of money. It speaks, no, it screams something more to it.

"May of 1973 - Priscilla had reopened the divorce case. The settlement on the face of it was clearly one-sided: for a man of such wealth to pay little more than $100,000 in a state where community property was the rule, and for both parties to be represented by the husband's lawyers was unfair-- but that's what SHE wanted."
    __________

THE SETTLEMENT - Elvis would pay $125,000 in cash, plus $6000 a month for 10 years,(added to the $4000 he was paying for child support, even though they both had joint custody, and he's paying $10,000 per month!!) He gave Priscilla half the sale of the Hillcrest house (It finally sold on August 31 for $450,000), plus $4200 a month (now we're up to $14,200 per month!!) for spousal support for a year AND 5 percent of the new publishing companies, amounted to close to TWO MILLION DOLLARS

Because of re-opening the divorce ; I've always wondered if she would have had any interest in Graceland. Vernon was mad she re-opened it. That's one reason I could never figure out why he made Priscilla a co-executor in his will.

    Cool

I'm sorry but where has it ever been suggested Priscilla used Lisa as a pawn in the divorce?

Priscilla wanted more than was originally agreed upon and Elvis agreed to supply her with it. Even though that is part of why he did the deal with RCA in 73' in order to have some liquid cash.....in order to pay Priscilla.

But I have never heard it suggested that Priscilla was going to deprive Elvis of seeing Lisa.

Im not much of a Priscilla fin but I would like to see where this information comes from, who said it and where.

Personally i think the story Lisa being used as a pawn is yet another piece of fictitious nonsense.

    Vernon died in 79'

    Graceland opened in 82'

Where exactly did he get the time to be mad about the opening!

Of course it's fictious nonsense. It's an assumption that nobody here could possibly know. From all indications there divorce was as amicable as can be expected.Going by Elvis' income the amount she asked for is no big deal when you put it into perspective and the lifestyle she was accustomed to.Look at the divorce setlements taking place today.

There MUST be a reason you don't read what others are talking about before responding ??

Lisa wasn't allowed to see elvis when all that stuff was going down with elvis calling and threating priscilla about mike stone, so this was around the time priscilla decided to go back for more money and vernon was mad cause priscilla said she wouldn't and went against her word.

    Youre very smart arent you!

Perhaps if you wrote in a better fashion people would not have to reread what you type to gather the meaning of it quickly.

Anyway I was busy when I was reading it and didn't have time to fully absorb what you were saying.

There must be a reason why you are so confrontational? Insecurity's perhaps?

Stick to Elvis instead of trying to launch a personal attack chap.
