My impression of the picture was instantly that Elvis looks weary, too.

It's neither. The camera just caught him as he was closing his eyes. Believe me...

Elvis had no clue that "the end is/was near".

Or maybe he was just in deep thoughts....

Thanks for sharing this picture. It's one I've never seen before either. He does look a bit tired to me. Probably was as at that time he wasn't feeling well.

Agreed Tony, he was excercising and getting ready for another tour in August..Elvis thought he could go on with the lifestyle he lived but he couldn't in the end. I love the photo's from this show..he looked so good, and thin.

I don't think he is happy here but he wasn't in good health so maybe that was he looks tried.

I didn't mean to start a debate EP MoodyBlue. He just looks so tired of life ,and some people have a sixth sence about their deaths,a premonition if u will. Cool photo..LOL

    Once again....

Elvis did not know for one second that 1977 would be his final year. That is a myth that has been perpetuated for the last 31 years.

Elvis had no clue when God would call him home...none of us have a clue. The only explanation that is plausible in regards to Elvis passing away the same week as his mother is pure coincidence.

    I don't think anyone's debating that .]\
Do have to say, I've been around people that knew when they were dying.
Not the exact hour or minute; just that death was fast approaching.
I'd never make fun of them. They knew !

As so often we agree, Diane. No one can know what Elvis was thinking as he rested there. We all can make opinions of how he looks in the picture though and to me he is not looking his best at all. He looks worn, pale, bloated, and not well. It is sad for me to see him at this low point as he had been so vital and full of energy and life a few years earlier. I think anyone that thinks that FAME is "all that"....is totally wrong. We have all watched FAME play out in misery and heartache too many times.

I will never forget you Rosanne.

I've never seen that picture before....thanks so much for posting it. It would be interesting to know what Elvis was thinking during those rare moments when he had time to himself...

Too be honest I don't think he was happy here either. Just take a liten to the album Moody Blue and Other Great Performances..he is totally uninspired and sounds bored..but still an ok show with Moodyblue performed which is great all on its own.

Mike, it is a cool picture
