Thread: Cliff Richard - Cliff Richard Turned Down Elvis.

Cliff Richard - Cliff Richard Turned Down Elvis.

(Pic: Cliff Richard in Manhattan New York City, USA - 10.09.07)

Singer SIR CLIFF RICHARD turned down the chance to be photographed with ELVIS PRESLEY - because he was too fat. The 67-year-old was a huge fan of the Suspicious Minds hitmaker and always dreamed of having his picture taken with his idol.

But when Richard finally got the opportunity to be snapped with Presley in 1976, he refused as the star was looking "really heavy" at the time. Richard says, "I noticed that when he was making a film he would diet down and regain the animal magnetism.

And I wanted a picture of Elvis looking good. So I said no and I waited." But, much to the singer's disappointment, a year later (77) Presley died of a heart attack and Richard has regretted his decision ever since.

He adds, "I really kicked myself."

Shows what a shallow person he is, doesn't it? His loss for sure.

What kind of person could refuse and miss the opportunity to be photographed with Elvis Presley? The excuse he gave is so foolish, so rediculous. Because Elvis was too fat?? Oh, give me a break!

Just goes to show you that wisdom doesn`t always come with age.Besides,"The Peter Pan of Pop" was,in my opinion, one of the most over-rated,obnoxious,dull,vacant,insipid,limited,most constipated,uptight,boring,semi-celebrity,non-rockin`,one dimensional muppets of all time.

And I will remove the word "foolish". (I'll leave the word "rediculous" though!). Anyway, if that's just gossip, just fine.

SIR CLIFF RICHARD has confessed to an embarrassingly strong obsession with ELVIS PRESLEY - which led him to pray the rock 'n' roll pin-up would take over his soul. The veteran crooner admits his passion for the King, who died in 1977 aged 42, ran so deep he would dream of embodying the star. He says, "I didn't just want to be like Elvis - I wanted to be him. "I'd like to have woken up and found that really he was me. That's the kind of fervour I felt about the power of his music."

heres alittle more about Cliff Richard

But he seems like a real friendly guy. For the rest I agree on many of your points.

Turning down a picture taken with an overweight Elvis may sound stupid now, but back in 1976 nobody would know (for sure) that Elvis would be dead the next year.

in the second one, it is hard to believe that the first article is true. Just my opinion.
