TTWII LP On FTD April Release

This I read on another forum
The FTD team is working on two new April releases: first is a double CD set on 7”, Elvis – That’s The Way It is, second is a digi pack release with the same songs that were presented on a bonus CD with the TTWII FTD-book.
The book itself, has been deleted from the FTD catalogue.
The exact tracklisting is not yet confirmed.
Ernst: "This does not constitute a policy of releasing all book CD’s as separate re-releases. We will in each case evaluate the demand and historic relevance for such releases."

I am hoping this is someone's idea of an early April Fool's joke...

I can't possibly believe that FTD has reached the point where they have to start reissuing titles that THEY have deleted...

If they are planning on releasing a 7" version of the TTWII soundtrack anyway, why can't they just include the tracks that were on the book CD into that package as bonus material??

Certainly an interesting story to follow...thanks for the info. poormansgold!!

    Aarrggghhh....

poormansgold WAS right!!! Just found this news on ElvisNews.com:

FTD Mis-pressing And TTWII CD Release

Ernst Jørgensen and Roger Semon sent out a newsletter. In this newsletter they mention that it has come to their attention that due to an incorrect quark file being used by their manufacturer, the name "Presley" (Presely) is spelt wrong on the spine of their latest release “Wild In The Country.” As the item has already shipped, they will supply quantities of the corrected sleeve as and when requested. All new orders taken for "Wild In The Country" will feature the corrected sleeve.

The label will release a 2 CD version of "That's The Way It Is" in April in the Classic album series (7” digipack with booklet). Track listing is not finalized yet.

Additionally the label will re-release the CD originally included in the "The Way It Was" book as a regular 5” CD. This does not constitute a policy of releasing all book CD’s as separate re-releases though, the label will in each case evaluate the demand and historic relevance for such releases.

I know, I know....if I am not happy about it, don't buy it! Just had to vent my frustration that they can't find SOMETHING else in the vault to release besides a CD that has already been released once (albeit in a more expensive format)!!

I think the 7" classic album reissue of TTWII is a fine idea....I am anxious to see what unreleased tracks they will include on that one!!

I just have a problem with re-releasing the CD from THE WAY IT WAS! If FTD didn't want the CD out of circulation, then why delete the book/CD set? Yes, it will be cheaper for people to buy just the CD but still....wouldn't it make sense that the fans who TRULY wanted the CD bought the book/CD set the first time around?

    Just my opinion though...

I agree with what your saying JR76.

I was hoping for a soundboard from an unreleased concert instead of re-releases of stuff we already have.

I'll get excited about FTD releases when they decide to release either Richmond or Greensboro from April 1972 in all it's stereo glory. These are fantastic and soulful concerts that are just sitting in the vaults decaying as each year passes by. I still cannot believe that the greatest show on earth-the Hampton Roads concert has not been released in the past 30 years now.
