    Rehearsals Jan. 1974

I came across this on the home page of ElvisNews. I thought "I'm Leavin' It Up To You" was a rehearsal from Jan. 23, 1972. Also wasn't "The Twelfth of Never" a rehearsal from Aug. 1974? What about "Born to Lose"? (I know Dean Martin sang this.)

    January 15, 1974
Elvis was picked up at 7.45 p.m. at his Monovale home and driven to the RCA studio on Sunset to rehearse for his upcoming Vegas opening. He returned home at 1.45 a.m. and this schedule was maintained the next 3 nights.
Among the new songs Elvis rehearsed were some of the recordings from his recent Stax session, as well as The Twelfth Of Never, Born To Lose and I'm Leavin' It Up To You. However in the end only Let Me Be There, Why Me Lord and Help Me were introduced in the show.

It presumably was. You're missing the point about the January '74 info (taken from the book Day By Day, incidentally): it's not saying Leavin' from 1974 is the same as the '72 bootleg version, only that Elvis may have rehearsed it in '74 as well.

Yes, but it's possible he rehearsed it on other days as well.

Anecdotal evidence only so far on this one, I'm afraid.

Not at all, in fact I would imagine it's a tune Briggs would detest.

edit: may have to re-think that remark , considering Briggs overdubbed this song with his own arrangement back in the early 80's............which suprises me given some of the things he has said in regards to EP's 1970's output.
    ---------------------------------
It was written by Jerry Livingston and Paul Webster and made famous by Johnny Mathis in 1957.
