    The birth of Lisa.

Was Elvis there ? I mean in the room with Priscilla ? Or was one of her family members in there with her ?

Was just curious, because i guess it's not mentioned that much

Thanks. My mind was wondering, because i guess she wouldn't wana be on her own for her first child. Hope someone can help !

I don't know girls but when we had our first child in 1966 fathers were very rarely allowed to be in the birthing room. We had our second child in 1971 and had no problem with that at all.

Yes...Diane is right. In 1968 having the father in the delivery room was virtually unheard of.

Ohhh thank you ! I never knew that. I find that quite shocking, i would hate to be on my own for the birth of my child. Well, were all different. Thanks for the info

Do you remember also how children under the age of 16 were not allowed on the maternity floor???

Yes I do Rosanne, there were a lot of what I consider silly rules back then. I for one felt a lot calmer being able to have my husband with me in the labor and the birthing room for our second child.

Our first child was a short labor of a little over 3 hours but boy those 3 hours felt like a lifetime! I would have given anything to have had someone to pass the time with, especially my husband.

It seems the "Man in the Delivery Room" wasn't widely accepted until 1974.

Of course, there were "home births" since "forever "
Elvis was born at home himself.
But, I was in the delivery room for one of mine in 1969.

I know what you mean. With my first I was in labor for 16 hours, then they decided to do an emergency C-section. With my 2nd one I had what the Dr. called a "Hollywood" delivery..I checked in the night before, took a hot shower and then had the C-section the next morning. Thank God my hubby was there for all of it...

No he wasn't in the room, he and the guys waited in a seperate private room (Dr. lounge).
I remember when I was 7 and my dad went into hospital we had to get special permission to see him as I was under 16.

Who's mother? Pris? She was in New Jersey and flew in after Lisa was born (from what I've been told).

You see the footage of Ann in EBTP as they bring Lisa home and there are shots of her leaving the hospital w/them.

I would have been there a week prior. But maybe she went into labor early, who knows. I tried to be there for my grandaughter. But she was stubborn and didn't get out when she was supposed to. Flew home, three days later she decided to arrive.

I don't know the reason behind Ann's delayed arrival, could be she had kids of her own to look after in New Jersey and needed to find a sitter for them? That's a good ?.

Awe, well she was quite comfy where she was. LOL

My nephew, he arrived 2 days b4 his mommy's shower, my sis was like "he wanted to party w/us and see what he got present wise" ROF

My first came 3 weeks early. Second 9 months to the date when I said I got pregnant. Guess Lisa and my second have that in common. Funny that son is never on time now???

In the Elvis & Me book, Priscilla recalls how she phoned her mother in New Jersery that her water broke. Probably hard for Ann to be there w/ a family to raise and take care of.
