I loved Egypt! I was there on holiday few years ago and stayed in the little city of Hurghada and enjoyed on the white sand beaches and the blue sea

We visited many places, like Luxor and the Karnak temple which was my favorite It looked so HUGEEE, it was really an open aired museum!
I read few books before I went there because I wanted to know more from what the tourist guide is telling us
The Queen Hatshepsut's temple (who was the first great woman known in history) was amazing too
We went to see Cairo too, well, Cairo is enormous and dirty, but I still liked it!
The pyramids were massive and I still don't know how they managed to build them, carrying all those heavy stone blocks from Nile And putting them so perfectly together...stunning.
The ancient Egyptians knew alot about science such as Maths and Astronomy, Chemistry, Medicine.
They also knew the approximate value of the number Pi and the Pythagorean theorem which helped them to build the pyramids.

I don't think that people can be closed in the tombs while exploring it...although there are many stories about that.
Many people died when they opened the Tutankhamen's tomb. I believe that was because they all played with his mask that was put inside the sarcophagus and was covered with poison

As for the mummies...it's not very hard to get a body mummified at such high temperatures! They used soils to drain the bodies and they removed the inner organs and put them in separate coffins that were put next to the sarcophagus. Only the brain was thrown away

Ancient Egyptians believed that in order for a body to live in the afterlife it needed to be preserved. When the soul would return to be reunited with the body it needed to be able to find and recognise the body in order to live forever and mummification made that possible.

Exactly . And thanks to their beliefs, we have those enormous pyramids today

Sorry, but that's actually a huge myth that's carried on for many years.

The curse myth began when Lord Carnarvon (who financed the operation) happened to die of pneumonia ... approximately four months after the tomb's 1922 opening.

Howard Carter, the main archaelogist, lived for another 17 years.

Nobody died when Tut's tomb was opened; all the stories about this are just that - stories. Aside from Carnarvon, every person who was at the tomb's opening died in normal circumstances over normal periods of time.

Egypt itself is brilliant; I was there in 1997 for six weeks. Had a wonderful time.
    Thanks for correcting me Getlo.
I've read a story that Lord Carnarvon had a mosquito bite at the same place where Tut had on his mummy This one is proven to be a myth

Even if that were true, it was just a co-incidence.

I always thought it kind of funny that in a country that held their kings in such high regard there is also a town/city called Memphis....There`s another one for the conspiracy theorists!!

Memphis was the original capital of ancient Egypt, and basically became a ghost town when Cairo became the centre of everything. I've been there - it's not much of a city these days.

Memphis, Tennessee was obviously named for it.

Egypt was one off the best holidays EVER !

It was so interesting learning about Tutankhamun, and we got to see his coffin, all gold.

But it's hard to believe, when you walk round Egypt, that once it was that famous country. And also it's funny to see the Pyramids next to the town (Cairo).

Marija, i did exactly the same as you, Queen Hatshepsut's temple (they said, the way of remembering it was Hot-chicken-soup our guide was funny).

We did 7 days on the cruise along the nile, stopping off in places, looking around temples. Then we stayed in a hotel for 7 nights. We visited Cairo on a 2 day trip, going to the huge museum, with all Tutankahmuns treasures. The train there was very scary though !

And they were mummified because the Egyptians believed that if the pharaoh's body could be mummified after death the pharaoh would live forever.

    Hey! hehe
    hot-chicken-soup!
We were in the Egyptian museum in Cairo too lol, the mummy part of it was scary
Yeah, I noticed that Cairo expanded so much that the city is VERY CLOSE to Giza. If you walk by the street in the city you can see the pyramids...
