    people could see Elvis that way because of the clothes he wore especially pink when he was younger, he wore eye makeup, had long hiar. He was a trend setter, i think he also wanted to stand out, to be different, as he was in his late teens.

    As he got older i think his dress sense was soley based on "I like it, I'll wear it."

    Now for a true androgynous entertainer look to David Bowie.

    Elvis was a gentle man, you watch his home movies and you can see it. A gentle soul and maybe that gets confused.

    He was almost too beautiful to be a man but his personality traits were definitely masculine. He did seem to feel more comfortable around women but that was due to his close relationship with his mother.
