IMO, had he lived on (and defeated his addiction demons), I do believe he would have eventually toured the world.

He might have even changed his entire repetoire on stage, including dumping the big orchestra for a smaller sized combo and dropping the jumpsuits for possibly two-piece outfits with a sports coat?

Nevertheless, it's something interesting to think about.

    .

He probably would have gone eventually, although despite what some would tell you, his enthusiasm wasn't that great for a world tour.

And yes, it depended heavily on Elvis geting healthy first.

The Colonel's status had nothing to do with it. There was no need for Parker to actually go overseas with Elvis. So if his status was "illegal" as some suggest, it wouldn't have even been an issue.

But, after a world tour, what then?

Hey BBM, i agree with you, but "Sports Coat" com'on
He is into the dressed to the nines look when he go's out, it would just be more modern imo, but he would still be looking -around the way- bling.

wow, a world tour...imagine the frenzie! Health would have been a problem I guess, and maybe he was a bit scared after his last show in Canada ending badly. And there is the addiction problem too, but if had really wanted to do a world tour, I guess he could have got his pills in the countries he visited

If you consider that he would have taken care of his health and beat his addiction, yes I do believe he would have gone on a world tour.

    Exactly.

Back to the post Aloha situation for Elvis?

I think there might have been less touring and more vacations in Hawaii and yes, probably another television special at some point.

    BBM,

I actually think that Elvis could have (and should have) easily gone back to wearing the two-piece suits like he did in parts of '72 & '74 & '75...the jumpsuits had worn out their welcome by the late '70s. Even by the early '70s, I think the jumpsuits should have been retired or if he chose to continue wearing them they should have gone with a little less extravagant designs.....

I've gotta agree with the above assesment. Elvis seemed to constantly need a challenge to keep him "fresh" and rejuvinated and once the excitement of a world tour had worn off I believe he would have just went back to the old way of doing things....

IIRC, there was rumors going around (after Aloha) of an Easter '74 television special (and it was even advertised on some single releases during 1973-1974) but it never came to fruition.....

Well what I meant was something similar to the well known country singers of the later 70's - early 80's like Conway Twitty, Johnny Cash, Glen Campbell, etc....

But I agree with you that yes, he would definitely want to look "flashy"

I believe Elvis needed a challenge , always.
Not to put blame on anyone . I wish he'd just used his own instincts and done what he wanted to do; as far as making his music and doing things "his way."
I would have loved it if he'd done a world tour. Did some movies that he wanted to do. IMO, it's imperitive for anyones well-being to keep their interest in life to do what interests them. Not what someone else tells you, you should do. I think he could have done it,and done it well.

I think he would have done it.I reckon that if his health and drug problems had been sorted out we would have seen a much different Elvis in the years after 1977....that would have been something great to see.

    I think he would have.

I just don't know how Elvis could be kept constantly challenged.

Or maybe the question should be..... why did he need to be challeneged constantly.

It seems without a challenege he became bored and self-destructive.

The problem was that Elvis didnt want to do much of anything different. He's the one who gave up on his studio career. He lost interest in making music. He avoided the studio like the plague.Blame for that rests completely on his shoulders. He was content performing the same songs endlessly in the same cities over and over.He even quit rehearsing for tours because he got so complacent.Nobody was calling those shots but Elvis.

I don`t think Elvis ever did or could have really got bored of music itself,I think his experiences of the "Industry" killed a lot of the magic for him,the endless movie soundtracks that he was contracted to do, then just when he thought he had escaped it he ended up in a similar situation with the roadshows and Vegas.I think his attention span wasn`t as long as any of the colonel`s contracts.

I don't think he was bored with his music, afterall he was looking forward to the upcoming tours.
