The floorplans are correct and what I've been told is there is a door in her room.
Dear everybody
During my work on the visual of upstairs, I found that none of the floorplans I found on the web or in books could be correct. Anyway, the most reliable one, is the one I have attached here. The problem is, as it has been discussed in other topics, that there is no door between Lisa's room and the the dressing room. You can see that by yourself in the intro of 'This Is Elvis' (see attached still from the movie). So my question is: Does anyone have any knowledge of any official floorplans of Graceland? I'm sure, we are many, who will like to see it. My version, and correct, floorplan is also attached here. Best regards, Martin

Dear Suzan. In case you are right, the movie This Is Elvis was not shot upstairs. But since we know, that it indeed was filmed upstairs, and that you can see, that there is no door opening into the hall, my question is: has anyone a correct floorplan? Or can anyone explain why this actual floorplan has this strange error? Best regards, Martin
No floorplan on the internet is the correct one, sadlyHowever, the movie "This Is Elvis" was indeed filmed upstairs, despite what I thought previously - EPE confirmed that to me in an email after I asked - and the only floorplan that comes the closes to being an actual floorplan of the upstairs of Graceland is the top one that Elvistcbkirch provided:
- the main change from other floorplans is where the stairs to the attic is; the staircase here is behind Elvis' bathroom.
However, there seems to be three doors (well ..at least one door and two openings) upstairs near Lisa Marie's room, and all very, very close to one another.
And Elvistcbkirch, thanks for posting that screenshot from the movie
Thanks Jht: So far, so good. But its strange, that this floorplan seems very correct in almost other detalis. I wonder if it was based on older material and then combined with some newer floorplans? Somewhere there must an authorizes and official architectural drawing. Best regards, Martin
Hi Martin.
I've said all along that it was in fact filmed upstairs even though some doubted what I was saying, I'm glad it was finally confirmed.
Also, ok I'm not understanding what your asking/saying...what door specifically are you referring to? There is in fact the door from the top of the stairs to the hallway.
What I've been told is the floorplans are correct.
Dear Susan: I'm glad you're asking, cause it seems like many people have lost their orientation upstairs. Look at my explanation, that I've attached. You are looking down at the end of the hall, where the door should be, according to the floorplan, but as you can see, there is no door. Just a narrow wall. That's what seemed odd to me, when I researched on my visual, cause everything else on the floorplan seems to be correct. Agree? Best regards, Martin
I don't mean to complicate things here but there is a question that has been driving me crazy. I read somewhere that Graceland had 8 bedrooms yet we only know of Elvis', his parents, Minnie Mae, Lisa, Delta, Ginger and Charlie to a total of 7. I would really like to see a floor plan that shows where the parents, Minnie Mae, Delta and Charlie's bedrooms were located. Charlie's I've read was off the kitchen somewhere.
Diane
Hi Martin!
OK NOW I understand your question.
K best what I got from my source is this:
Door to dressing room is on the left, closest to the closet door--swings in therefore unable to view it in the photo you attached. Also I was told there is a door to Elvis' bathroom in the hall, but I'm thinking that is the combo dressing area and bathroom as Elvis converted that bedroom to his dressing room.
The door in the floorplan is to Lisa's bathroom not Elvis's. Perhaps when Elvis had the upstairs remodeled it was removed and placed within her bedroom? Lisa's bedroom used to be a storage closet what I"ve been told.
Diane, the 8th bedroom I believe is the one downstairs in the basement that was used by Sonny & Jerry at various times.![]()
Thank you Suzan, do you know where Elvis' parents, Minnie Mae and aunt Delta's were?
Diane
Your welcome.
Yes they all used (at various times) the bedroom on the ground floor that is now open for view and labeled as "Gladys bedroom"...after Gladys death Vernon stayed for a bit but upon marriage to Dee and move to his own home, Minnie and Delta shared it...Vernon after Elvis' death and upon asking Charlie to leave the annex (prior garage area and now addt'l room of exhibits display) he moved to that area...then upon Minnie's death, Delta used that bedroom, it was restored back to how it was when Vernon and Gladys used it when it was open to the public, it looked very different when Minnie and Delta used it.![]()
Thanks so much for the information Suzan, now I can rest my head. I just couldn't figure out where all these bedrooms were.
Diane
LOL no prob. Diane glad I could shed some light on it.![]()
Bravo, Martin and Suzan...thanks for the great information.
I still remain a little confused though. I have looked at the image and read this statement over and over, and I don't quite follow what you are saying here, Suzan:
I mean, I hear what you are saying but when I look at the photo something doesn't seem to jive there. Would you mind explaining that perhaps another way?
...you won't forget me when I go.
If anyone has the Boxcar book release: "Graceland: 1957-1977" there are floor plans in there.
