You just criticized Presley31 for agreeing with Lakeisha and then you turn around and complain about this being 3 pages and growing. You just added the fuel to the fire by doing that. Maybe it's YOU who is causing the havoc by throwing in your two cents of sarcasm. Maybe you are the one along with a few others who the moderators need to put on lockdown. Not the threads.

You and Lakeisha ????That's a good one!!
You only post on here to ignite people. You could care less about Elvis Presley, go on and admit it, we all know it! And...don't flatter yourself.....I have spent very little time on the likes of you two, or should I say "you one?"
Anyone can look back at my posts and see for themselves..

What is "turth".
I have no problem with the area around Graceland being cleaned up, as I have stated before in at least one of the 123 threads started about this subject. The problem everyone has with this crap is the fact that there are 123 threads about it. Geez, give it a rest. Let's pick up the discussion when they ACTUALLY START THE GROUND BREAKING.
There is some truth to it. They will be upgrading the visitors center, and building a museum. And cleaning up the area - stuff like that, and most of the things they mentioned are most likely going to happen. Though, last I heard -officially- the city council won't be taking a vote until mid '08 or something like that, could be wrong. Ah, just read the article again, it's simply a resolution to show support. The main resolution won't be till mid '08 most likely. The current resolution is a "Throw away" multi-purpose one like 'All in favor of this idea -----" blah blah blah...
The main thing to keep in mind is that according to federal law they cannot modify the house itself.. Which is a good thing obviously. I say "Good for them" if it means it will make the area around Graceland safer, and more inviting. As long as it doesn't turn into a circus that is
This is from someone from memphis and see more than we do.
The final 3 readins won't be delayed until mid 08, I can assure you that.
From what I was told yesterday, the upcomin meetin this week with the council and EPE will be a support backin the plans publicly.
That'll allow EPE/Sillerman to go ahead with their ideas and plans instead if delayin for the new council to handle.
It's got a lot to do with pride as well. The current city council wants to go out by bein able to say one day that they made all this happen.
Then, they'll let the new city council deal with the paper work and readings for the rezonin area in early 08.
That will probably happen before anything else gets rezoned in Memphis.
The Graceland/Whitehaven redevelopment project is #1 on the city's plan lists for urban redevelopment.
There's about 6 other redevelopment plans on the table for the city includin the fairgrounds and the stadium issue.
I'm hearin that the readings for the Graceland area should be done by February or early March at the latest with groundbreakin happenin no later than June 08.
The quicker Sillerman gets the readings done, the quicker he can begin construction on phase 1.
I've been to Graceland, in June of this year as a matter of fact. Yes I was disappointed with the surrounding area, it was certainly run down. We stayed at Heartbreak Hotel and we had a good time. I think the plaza is fine just the way it is - and there is already the museums, so not sure why they are adding more? More restaurants, yes, and a walkway over to Graceland, yes, but other than that - don't see why they are doing it. The local government needs to step it up to get rid of the ones doing the crimes somehow.......maybe just updating everything is okay? I guess Bob Sillerman will run the other smaller Elvis businesses out of town then?
The setup they got now is ghetto lookin and outdated.
Everyone I know says that.
Folks been sayin for awhile that they need to tear it down and come with somethin new.
Fortunately that's their plan.
"the former residents of Whiteheaven,
the prostitutes, dealer, junkies and other criminals.." someone said,
Well they cant all be like this, and i have to think, where are the so-called "former residents of Whiteheaven, the prostitutes and junkies and criminals" gonna go?
hmm.. I dont think Elvis would want destitute people moved out of their residences just for urban planning to make Graceland look better.
Where are they gonna go? Is there a plan for that? Just wondering.
When l take my kid to graceland l don't want to see any drug dealers or prostitutes hanging out. Won't go till things are more safe in that area.
