Lisa interview (elvis is mentioned quite a bit)

if this isnt meant to be in here, so sorry!

You're rich and the daughter of a pop star. How come you didn't turn out like Nicole Richie? My mom, myself and Scientology. With reality shows like [Richie's], it's so easy to become a celebrity now, isn't it? It doesn't take much work.

It didn't take much work for you. When you made your first record, you were immediately booked on Letterman.Yeah, and my first live per-formance was on Good Morning America. I skidded through it. I had no chops yet.

Do you have chops now? I have my moments. Don't expect perfection. The way it all happened for me, perfection isn't in the cards.

Was this album easier to make than the first? There wasn't as much pressure. With the first one, nobody really knew me. I had to answer for myself.

Do you think about your dad before you go onstage? I can't say I think about him. Usually I just have terror stomach, which I know he had. I do the deep breathing and the pacing he did.

How often do you go back to Graceland? A few times a year. It's a beautiful, sad place for me. I still have family there. We have Christmas dinner at the house. I find it my responsibility to still go there and inject some life into it.

Are you what your daddy would call a Hard Headed Woman? Not at all. That's someone who's stubborn. I'm rebellious.

Your single Dirty Laundry, a 1980s Don Henley song, is about the bloodthirsty media. Explain. I thought that song was more relevant now than ever. Our entertainment now--the reality-show thing--is about watching the demise, humiliation and darkest hour of others.

Have you been asked to be a witness in the Michael Jackson trial? That's too much of a hot stove. There's a trial going on, so I can't say a word, and I'm pretty happy about that.

    i highlighted the Elvis bits.

Thanks for taking the time to post , I had this interview up in it's entirety and some didn't like it, but I found it quite good and was pleased that she spoke of her dad, more then usual, in print interview.

    Thanks, Zoe.
I have read this article as well. Lisa talks very little about her dad I've found.
It's too bad; as I feel it might help her to talk to someone that really cared about him. Of course, that wouldn't be the media, IMO.

She spoke of him in Rolling Stone interview and in "Life" and I found that refreshing. I don't blame her for not discussing him to much, she is in tough spot, dang if she does, dang if she doesn't. Plus I do think some things about him should be just for her in her memories and not shared w/the world. Perhaps, and this is just off the cuff, she feels about him the way he felt about her, so much is public and this is something that is private. Elvis once said (I'm paraphrasing) "Much of my life is public but my baby, my baby is private" when speaking of Lisa...I will have to pull out my Elvis quote book and get exact quote but I think most fans know what I'm referring to.

Believe it or not, I agree with you Suzan.
I know to be an entertainer, an actor; whatever ..you give up much of your privacy. That doesn't mean I agree with that.

IMO, one needs and deserves a "private life" also. It seems we "punish" the ones that choose to use their lives by giving us pleasure and entertainment.
Doesn't make too much sense from either point of view, IMO.

Very true that, about celebs/stars. On one hand they've chosen a "public" life, so when they step past that gate, they are "public" but I draw the line w/the kids of celebs, they have not chosen that path and therefore should be left alone til they make their decision. However, that is not to say that I think celebs shouldn't have a private life, absolutely they should and some things, whether a celeb or not, should remain private.

That's one thing Priscilla did. Whether her or Lisa decided that ??
Lisa was kept out of the public eye for many years.
Lisa was grown before she really ventured out.
Think she knew what she was getting into by then ,maybe.

Lisa was very much shielded from the public, very few pics made of her during her early years and up to her teens. I think that was a good decision on Pris part. I think in Lisa adulthood I think she was ready to step out, tried to do so prior to Ben being born, but then she discovered she was pregnant and shelved her career to raise her kids. I admire that decision.
Yes I think she knew the media glare, but I don't think she was quite prepared for how she was tossed onto the public stage...

It is sad that she mentioned very little about Elvis..

I remember on Elvis 30th Anniversary Concert during Elvis Week,i think it was before she sang ' In The Ghetto' , she talked a little bit and she refer Elvis as 'him' rather than ' daddy' or ' my dad' ..

I have various clips of Lisa thru the years, starting w/the stamp ceremony, and she also referred to Elvis as "him" at one point, same thing in msg's. to fans and Presley Place groundbreaking...or "Elvis", same in some print interviews, etc...maybe she distances "Elvis Presley" from "my dad" and that is her way of doing so?

LOL no kidding! Apparently she buys them herself, just doesn't believe in actually wearing them....someone needs to tell her that the world DOES NOT like looking at her...ummmm....hmmmm.....wahooie...she sits in a car w/a mini skirt and the surprise is over. ROF

And yeah, she truly does need to hush w/her private woes and tell those around her to do same...I am BritBrit worn out, LOL
