I know from my own personal experience we didn't go to see Graceland just because Elvis Presley lived there. We went because it was a world famous tourist attraction just as was the Civil Rights Museum and the Pink Palace Museum in Memphis, Tn. I think a lot of visitors who aren't the crazy fans who think Elvis is still alive go there to see it because of it's fame. Not because he called it home. The fact he did live and die there adds to the attraction. But it's not the only reason people go there. Graceland is a tourist attraction that interests tourists.
I was disappointed in Graceland. To be such a world famous tourist attraction, me, my sister, and my dad expected much more and in a better atmosphere. There weren't any fascinating attractions. There weren't any nice upscale restaurants or even a good hotel that was safe to stay at in the area. But then we were told by a Graceland employee that things were about to change big time and for better with modern day hi tech attractions and a resort.
Kids like my kid sister don't get Elvis' importance and legacy. So they gotta do things to entice them to like and understand who he was and wanna go to Graceland like they would Disneyland. That's why there's gonna be changes, we were told.
I don't think it matters if they change the interior of the house to something else that it was when he was alive. The only people who would notice it are the big fans who know everything about Elvis. The general public wouldn't know or care. They would see it as it was.
One more thing. Why is it that these two individuals, EP75 and Lakeisha are always targeted with hostility towards them?
You'll have to ask others . I've not been here long enough to know either of them well.
Not exactly welcoming ,huh?

Hmmm did someone overlook the "Heartbreak Hotel" or perhaps the "Peabody"? The Peabody is a beautiful and safe hotel, and there are such things as cabs, rental cars, shuttles and if you and your, mmm, family, drove you already had a car to get around in.![]()
i don't suffer from insanity - i enjoy every minute of it
Most who go to Graceland are not aware of the redecoration and im willing to bet quite a few would be displeased if they it had been redcorated after Elvis died.
Of course the feeling is important but so is authenticity
Apparently it will be put back to the way it was when Elvis died and I haven't heard Lisa voicing any problems about it.
Of course Lisa wasn't old enough to approve the original decision to change it.
Simple.
These "two people" post information that sometimes has no source, and with deliberately provocative titles, eg "Graceland will no longer be a house tour" or whatever the exact title was.
Or stuff like the "fact" that Graceland was at one time scheduled for demolition to make way for a highway.
Then, when they're asked for their sources, they metaphorically take their ball and go home.
Getlo - cute'n'cuddly
I suppose you're right as to some " hard-core fans".
I guess I'm not one of them.
To me it doesn't matter what the colors of anything are.
I've read where the refrigerator had to be replaced {different color too}
Things like people wear out. The house itself is the same, IMO.
