You cannot seriously expect me to swallow (bad pun intended) the theory that Elvis was not actually fat, and that it was all bloat.

The guy was a glutton in the truest sense of the word, and for most of his life.
You're free to believe what you want. Same as me; I worked with drug addicts. As far I know, you haven't .

And you're wrong about the surgery.

    June 16, 1975:
Elvis checked into Mid-South Hospital in Memphis for what was listed as "eye tests".
He underwent surgery on June 18 to remove the bags under his eyes, and to tighten facial tone (ie a facelift).
This was first reported in the Memphis Press-Scimitar on February 17, 1977, then the National Enquirer on April 26, 1977.

Sources: Day By Day, Guralnick, Goldman.

Now, let's not get into a slanging match about the surgery (as this thread will go even further off topic). It was minor, but it was a facelift. Not just the eyes. Look at photos from March and July 1975 for the difference.

It was waste of time of course. Elvis didn't need it; it was pure vanity on his part. And you can bet, had he lived, he would have ended up like a male Joan Rivers!

Are they gossip magazines, or honest journalism magazines?

Presuming again re 'had he lived he would have ended up like a male Joan Rivers'

I thought full facelifts were major bruising, time in bed?

Marty Lacker has answered this question, many times. He said only under the eyes.

I believe Linda in interviews has said the same.

Am I not? Where have I said I wasn't a fan of 1977 concerts? Point us all to the exact thread please.

So, comments "have to be a positive one about elvis concerts" do they? When I begin a thread, I do not dictate to anyone how they should respond within it.

What I and jak are saying is that these later concerts must be viewed in context, and dispassionately. I am on record saying that there are several later shows I enjoy, eg Pittsburgh, Indianapolis and some others.

So don't stoop to the level of some others on here and place words in my mouth.

Correcting someone when they're wrong is not harassment. And I will post where I please.

    You do the same.

And do not presume to know what interests me in these threads.

"Down At The End of Lonely Street" also tells that Elvis had his eyes done. The general feeling regarding the eyelift seems to be it was a huge mistake, that by doing so he took away the famous "hooded" look that was a trait from the Smith side of the family.

Saginaw May 3 - 1977 8:30 PM show - kinda rare little fact Elvis-opened the show with That's All Right instead of See See Rider --no big deal but probably the only time elvis started a concert in 77 with that song

Since I haven't gave my thoughts on Elvis in 1977 well it is my time now. I lvoe alot of his shows in 1977. Physically he wasn't great but his voice was. Indy concert was his best of that year in my opinion. His last concert tour was his best of that year really.

As Elvis being fat Getlo, Elvis wasn't all fat. He was mostly full of water. When taken pills like he did over the course of time your body will actually fill itself with water. It was the pills interacting with each other that will cause that. So Elvis wasn't all fat. Please looked up reseach on the actual pills that he took and see the effects they will cause. I have read many books that said discounts that Elvis was all fat and that he was full of water. I even talked to doctors on that subject and they said the same thing.

Back to the 1977 concerts, Elvis voice was amazing during that time at certain shows. Omaha was a ok of a show but the show had great songs - How Great Thou Art, Hurt, Can't Help Falling In Love just to name a few. Rapid City had many great moments with Unchained Medley being the best by far from that show. Such power on that song. For the other shows from 1977 that had great moments in them. Where No One Stands Alone from February 26, 1977 was a great version of the song. Unchained Medley, Little Darlin' and If You Love Me (Let Me Know) that appeared on the LP Moody Blue are great songs. Some says that they last time Elvis looked good was at Pittsburgh December 31, 1976/January 1, 1977. Well, I say since the last tour and looking at the photos Elvis looked great at the Indy concert than the rest of that year for some reason. It looked like he was losing weight during that tour.
