    Memphis '74

Lastnight and for much of today I've been playing FTD's "Recorded Live On Stage In Memphis" album.

I must admit this was the first time I actually sat down and listened to the complete show without skipping to just what I wanted to hear. Man this has to be one of the best concerts from '74.

Elvis seemed in performing mode this night..I loved hearing "Polk Salad"..liked it when Elvis told james to play and then says "sneak up on it ronnie" and play that bass Duke..Elvis sure knew what kind of sound he wanted.

The highlight for me was How Great Thou Art..man what a great inspirational version..one of my top favorites from the 70's of the song

The show is energetic and very lively. Just like the other shows from that March '74 tour..here latley I've been on a '74 kick..playing alot of albums from different tours and engagents that year..and imo its one of Elvis' best concert years..matching the intentsity singing wise as 1970.
"How do I get placed in situations like this? Ah hell, I guess it's all part of showbusiness "~ Elvis in his limo on his way to perform in Omaha, NE on June 19th 1977

Great Record. One of the first I bought in the early/mid '70's.

Actaully, the FTD is not the complete show. A few seconds here and there is missing. I believe the false start to Help Me is not on there. Also, Elvis screaming at a lady is not on there either. I don't know why but they are not on there. The Elvis screaming at the lady is on the regular release CD and LP but not on the FTD. That is werid!

First time I heard the "Live onstage in Memphis" concert was back when I was around 12 years old.....a pen-pal from England sent me a copy on cassette....I rewound the "Mama can`t dance" part so much I ended up ruining the tape!

One thing I really liked about this show was how the oldies were performed...Long Tall Sally - Whole Lotta Shakin' - Goin' On - Mama Don't Dance - Flip, Flop and Fly - Jailhouse Rock I like the musical arrangement of them...really awesome!!!

I bought that record in 74 at a Record Bar store. I also loved how he worked "Your Mama Dont Dance" into his medley. It did not sell real well though at the time. But I have always enjoyed this show.

Check it out for sure - good show, good show.
Make sure you get the FTD extended version, though it is a mystery why some of the dialogue was cut (disc length?)

Well the FTD version is the only one I have of the concert.

I absolutley love it though!! But do wonder why dialouge and other parts were edited out
