I?m sorry but I have to say it: G?n?R are really poor poor band in compare with DP! Ok, I will send to this webpage one other song (cca 3mins, very short for them!) in which you will have to hear all great parts of Gillans vocal (AMAZING range, r?n?r style singing... and of course very nice voice).Originally Posted by Unchained

ALL HAIL ELVIS PRESLEY!!![]()
apparently -- i was born in the WRONG era!
Elvis' voice was in my opinion best in the 1970's. I say 70's as a general feeling. There were so many fantastic 60's tracks too! But If I had to take one decade to a desert island and never hear anything else it would be the 70's! i simply couldn't function without such albums as
Love Letters
That's The Way it Is
Raised On Rock
Elvis (Fool)
From EP BLVD
and the list goes on......

What's unusual about that I hear you all say.......At a pinch I would say the 70's....no wait.....late 60's......no, hang on, 1958 was a pretty good year....I think I'll leave this one....next question?![]()

Even though I'll gladly listen to any era that is playing, I prefer the 1970's Elvis to any other. I enjoy those kinds of songs more than anything that he ever did. I would have loved to have been in the Jungle Room at Graceland in February and October of 1976.
Won't you sing me away to a summer night, let me hold her in my arms again.
Interesting Statistics building here......
1950s 2 4.65%
1960s 8 18.60%
1970s 33 76.74%
Anyone would think we have some 70's fans on the board![]()

When Elvis first appeared his voice was country/rock with a most different sound to it not neard before with such songs like "Poor Boy" and "My Happiness" to which I think are awesome. Then the 60's became more Rock and Roll suiting the time era but then came the 70's and thats when for me Elvis came into his own.Unlike most artists around at that time his sound was again different to others with songs like "Moody Blue" and "It's only Love" filling me with more admiration for a great man with a fabulous voice. The 70's masters cd is always on my player and there it will stay :worthy:

50's, this in the morning. to wake up to that sweet, charming, magical voice....i wouldn't be able to do anything during the day...other than having elvis singing to me of course![]()

Matt, I'm not aware of any live performances of It's Only Love...It would have been great though, I am sure. The performance heard on A Hundred Years From Now is my favorite--a very cool track on a fantastic CD.

So many great periods in EP's career, that's why his music is timeless till this day. I just recently watched the Aloha again and seeing Elvis perform Trilogy, how he gets stronger as the song builds, it's incredible and that gift coupled with his voice (amongst other things), set him far apart from anybody else.
I'll definitely go for the 70's era also. There was just so much soul in his voice. The 72-75 is my personal favorite.
The performances during the '69 Memphis sessions are some of my least favorite. He didn't seem to be singing with any subtelty at all and his voice had a hoarse quality (which worked well on some songs, granted.) He rebounded in a big way with the Nashville sessions in 70, IMO.
By late '75, there was a quite a bit of vibrato in his voice. I like some of the things during the Jungle Room sessions, but his voice just doesn't sound as clear to me. He could at times, sing with a lot of power though (Hurt, etc.). I almost feel like he was oversinging at times to try and make up for his physical shape and the fact he could not move around on stage like he used to.
I can't really decide though, because I also love the early 60's voice on "There's Always Me for example.
