    Did Elvis Blame Himself

For the demise of his marriage. I don't like to think he did. You know the burden of not being around Lisa and all.

hopefully Elvis understood the main reason for the demise of his marriage was his constant cheating. I'm sure there were other problems - him always being gone one of them. However - his rule about no wives/girlfriends going on the road with them - so he could cheat - if he allowed them to go - things could have been different....don't you think? So hopefully he realized he messed up.....Pris isn't perfect either - but the cheating was happening from the beginning in my opinion.

It's all to easy to play the blame game, they both had there own individual part to play in their relationship and under close scrutiny neither of them comes out smelling of roses!

Well, when he was talking to the interview just after the divorce, he told the audience that it was his career that seperated them, and with him being on the road a lot.. Which, i think that is true. But i am not sure if he actually mean't it, but i don't think he blamed himself for the demise of his marriage.

Like most of us, I think Elvis did blame himself.
I've found it takes two; to either make or break a relationship.

Not because anyone cheats; but because one has an "image" of how you expect things to be. Neither lived up to the expectations of the other, IMO.
Their dream turned into a nightmare; for both of them.

I think in the beginning he was mad as I understand it he was gonna get somebody (Sonny?) to kill Mike Stone!

Elvis' pride was hurt, here was a man whom was called the King and Priscilla was leaving him..... He didn't even want to marry her in the first place

I think Elvis did blame himself at the start but i in my opinion think both are to blame, Cilla didn't want to just sit around and let Elvis be, well Elvis if you know what i mean, with all the news reports about his affairs with co stars and the like, i think Cilla thought she could change Elvis but Elvis didn't want to be changed so i think that is what happened, the two parties couldn't change.
i hope you understand what i mean.

I reckon Elvis was aware of his part in the failure of the marriage but I don`t think it was a big issue with him,at least not after the initial anger and rage was gone.....I think what had the biggest effect on him was that he had "failed" to keep his family together......I think that overall hurt him more than the relationship with Priscilla ending...Does that make any sense??

Ok but a lot of people think that he didn't cheat untill she did. So let's say hypothetically he didn't. (if you go that way) Then did he blame himself for her cheating????

Truth be told I doubt if Priscilla was the first to cheat.....and somehow I doubt if Elvis truly believed that her cheating was his fault...knowing Elvis he would have blamed the guy she cheated on him with first, then her...and maybe in quiet moments feel a little bit of guilt himself....

So you don't beleive that statement she made then?

I agree completely with Matt and I don't think Elvis and Priscilla were ever suited to each other in the first place. They looked great together physically but emotionally were miles apart.

I find it hard believing much of anything Priscilla says, she usually seems to have other agendas and other reasons for telling anything.....and has little trouble with changing what she says.....I just don`t expect her to always tell the truth for the sake of the truth.......and it seems to get worse as she gets older.....It might be a horrible thing to say but I think these days she sees Elvis the commodity more than Elvis the man.

IMHO ELVIS felt a mixture of all kinds of different strong emotions about the breakup. ELVIS afterall was a very normal human being.... and like many artistic type people...he seemed even more emotional than most. Did he blame himself? There were probably those passing moments he did. If you have ever been through an unhappy breakup.... you find yourself going over "what went wrong?" It is as normal as rain.

I have to agree with Diane. It seems sad though that in most pictures they look so happy. They sure put on a good front ehh?

I think ELVIS and Priscilla did have moments of happiness. Ask about any divorced couple about their marriage and they will tell you they had times of happiness....just not enough of them, or not enough love to get through the times when the road got rocky.
