It's not really that far off the topic....everyone that smokes will tell you that if they quit they will gain weight, so it does kind of tie in together!

well to clarify, the bottom photo says 1976/cigar - not 1977. And Getlo won't be angry if I've found a photo like that...I can't even remember where I got it from to be honest - may have been here.....but Getlo likes proof....so.....here ya go I guess.

No, not angry at all. It all depends on the attitude in which proof is delivered, and ksimms2 is always very pleasant.

The '76 shot is early '76; but there's no cigar in the '77 pic.

Is this first shot the one you're talking about? I have enlarged it. To my eyes at least, this doesn't look like a cigar. It seems to be just a glass of water, or just his hand there with nothing.

The black and white shot I just found is, I believe, from 1975 (check his glasses; he only wore that type in '75 as far as I know).

Unfortunately, most of my reference books are at my dad's place. I know I've read several references to him "giving up his little cigars" ... and that letter he wrote, promising to stop ... and talking about the eightfold path or something. Wish I could find it. Anyone know the letter I'm talking about?

You can't just save pics from there on the gallery and repost them.

What you need to do is change the size of the pic slightly, rename it, then post it as another jpeg file (or whatever it was originally).

What's all this talk about cigars? We're talking about Elvis, not Bill Clinton. So far none of the 77 pictures shown from July or August shows anything about Elvis weight. Maybe there is evidence written in one of the books concernin Elvis' weight. A head shot through the limo window may be the last pic, but it doesn't show anything about weight.

He wrote it around '75, and it was basically a list of everything he wanted to do, eg get healthier, be nicer to people, then it rabbitted on about something to do with martial arts. Or maybe I'm confusing it with his TCB Creed, where he signed off with "all techniques rolled into one" or some such guff.

But on the one I'm thinking of, he clearly states that he will stop smoking cigars.

Getlo, not the same picture at all - go back to my bottom picture and click on it, it will make it larger and he does have a cigar in his mouth. But like I said, I probably got the photo from here and the name of the photo was 1976cigar so I can only go by that.....the other photo is from one of his last concerts in 1977 w/Ginger....only reason I posted that one....

I don't think so.

Look way in the background. It clearly says INTERNATIONAL HOTEL on top of the building. So the pic has to be 1971 or earlier.

Besides, his face is way too thin for '76 in that photo (just to bring the topic back to where it started - Elvis' weight!)
