Thread: Does Elvis drop the F-bomb during In Concert?

Does Elvis drop the F-bomb during In Concert?

Okay, simple question: does Elvis say the F-word during Elvis In Concert?

I first heard the album when it was first released in '77, and I've always been convinced he did.

It's during the "Well, well, well" sequence of I Got A Woman.

To my ear, he says "I dunno what I did ... f***, I dunno what I did ...".

Then, a little later, he says, "That was a blurb (?), JD ..."

And after actually seeing the footage on the unreleased stuff, I am even more convinced. He says what I believe is the F-word, realises what he did, then jokes with JD about it. He's almost whispering, and maybe he didn't realise the mic could have picked it up.

Some suggest he said, "In fact, I dunno what I did." But there is no "In" at the beginning of the sentence, and no T and the end of the word "fact". And he wasn't in the habit of dropping T's from words, drug-induced state notwithstanding.

And is he saying "blurb" or "burp"? There is a definite L in that word though.

Have a listen to the CD - or for those of you who have the footage, take a look - and let us know what you think.

Hmm..I've never really payed much attention to this but you got me wanting to go put in EIC and check it out..I've always thought he said "infact" but I can also say it almost sounds like he drops the F bomb..and if you really know Elvis, he used that word quiet abit so it would not surprise me at all.

Can't say it matters one way or another to me if he used the F word.

No, this is the wrong version of I Got A Woman.

This is the Omaha version - the one I'm referring to is from Rapid City.

Is it just me or did Elvis seem a little irratated with James Burton's guitar playing that night (June 21st Rapid City). I noticed it during That's Allright Mama, when Elvis goes "play it James" like he always did then raises his eyebrow when lookin over at James..then the incident with the "that an't what I did"...and it really showed during If You Love (Let Me Knw) performance...guess James was just having an off night.

I have heard him drop the f-bomb in other situations. But then again, a lot of people do and nobody makes a big deal over it. I personally don't like the word, but that doesn't mean I've never said it....

Elvis was a human being too, like others have said.
"...You never stood in that man's shoes, or saw things through his eyes, or stood and watched with helpless hands, while the heart inside you dies. So help your brother along the way, no matter where he starts. For the same God that made you made him too...these men with broken hearts." Hank Williams, Sr, as quoted by

    He says, "burp".

Another question: At who or what does Joe Esposito shake his head so angrily at before Elvis steps through that blue curtain??

I didn't hear that one, but on "Omaha" (you guys were right about "How Great Thou Art" BTW) I thought he used a vulgar word for the female anatomy in one of the other songs. I'll have to listen again to see if I heard right. Maybe some of the "adult" language in parts of EIC is why it is "banned". Grow up EPE!

    Which song would this be??

I'll listen to it again & try to verify it when I get a chance. But I don't know why everything "Elvis" on media has to be "G" rated. He was a part of the sexual revolution of the 60s & 70s, after all.

Remember Elvis was a product from the 50's.
