I'm still partial to Ronnie McDowells "The King Is Gone."
Think it was because it was the first one I heard after EP died.

My absolute favorite song about Elvis is "Cry Like Memphis."
"Black Velvet" comes a close second.
Glad to see they have already been posted.
"...You never stood in that man's shoes, or saw things through his eyes, or stood and watched with helpless hands, while the heart inside you dies. So help your brother along the way, no matter where he starts. For the same God that made you made him too...these men with broken hearts." Hank Williams, Sr, as quoted by

How about the Carl Perkins single from 1975 "The E.P. Express", which has Scotty Moore and The Jordanaires on it too.

Wow, there are so many songs I don't know here...
Anybody knows Bye bye Johnny (a Bruce Springsteen song)? it's more about Elvis' mother, it's very touching

    I just came across:

'He Was The King' by Neil Young

and I would like to ask the ones of you who know the lyrics, not sure
if I get it right, but is Neil Young making fun of Elvis or not?

    These are some of the lyrics of Young's song "He was the king";

"The last time I saw Elvis
He was shooting at a colour TV
The phones were ringing in the pink motel
    And the rest is history
    He was the king

The last time I saw Elvis
It was some kind of Vegas dream
Spotlights flashed on a silver cape
    And a blue-haired lady screamed
    He was the king"

Well, you decide if he was making fun of Elvis or not...
Goodbye Rosanne...Your "family" in TCB will always remember you.

Another great one I discovered recently...Went to see the gypsy, by Bob Dylan. He put perfectly in words what we all feel:
He can move you from the rear,
    Drive you from your fear,
    Bring you through the mirror.
He did it in las vegas,
And he can do it here

Thank you, Liana. Yes I know the lyrics and that's why I am asking.
As english is not my mother tongue...I am not sure if it could be a form
of tribute, done in a special way or making fun of Elvis.
I used to like Neil Young, so I was hoping the song to be a tribute....

How 'bout Blue Suede Heaven by Mark James. Beautiful song. I first heard it at the end credits of the Elvis documentary The Echo Will Never Die. Those who've seen it know what I'm talking about.

I originally thought it was by B.J. Thomas when I first heard it. Sounds just like him. After researching, I was shocked to see it wasn't.
