Thread: Why does Ginger get such a bad wrap??

Why does Ginger get such a bad wrap??

Maybe I just don't know enough but I can't understand why so many people do not like Ginger Alden. I have always felt a little sorry for her. In all of the things that I've read and the interviews that I've seen with her, she seems like a very nice person. I really think she seems more down-to-earth than Linda Thompson(I know so many people love her but I can't understand why). She really hasn't capitalized on her relationship with Elvis like other women have. I have read that he was even thinking about getting rid of some of the MM while they were together. I'm not saying that this was due to her but it isn't as if she was a bad influence on him. I could be completely wrong about her and there might be some vital piece of information that I'm missing. Someone please enlighten me.

There are rumours about Ginger in the Elvis World, just like there are about all persons who were close to Elvis. It is said that Ginger just used Elvis for money, that she was really dating other guys at the same time. Also that she phoned the press up to sell photos and stories about her and Elvis, and stealing things from his home.

I donīt know if this is true, itīs just a few things Iīve heard about Ginger during the years.

She has held a very low profile during the last years though. The year after Elvis died, she made a film called Living Legend, where she played the role of a the girlfriend to a famous rockstar... But apart from that she has lived a life away from the Elvis world after that.

Rumours is the key word. What do you think Elvis was using her for?It works both ways.

Sorry I don't care for her either....can't put my finger on it though and I won't comment on the rumors, because I don't know if they are true or not. She is just not my favorite person. In my own personal opinion, she was not there in Elvis' best interest and she did not look after him like Linda did. But also, Ginger was very young and that is a huge responsibility for one so young.

gossip like elvis and ginger were always fighting about the tours and such. Ginger had a boyfriend and was seeing him while with elvis. l try to find the interview from the maid, maybe that has ginger in it.

I don't feel that Ginger figured much in Elvis' life at all. My feeling is that they were both using each other...no bond or great love on either side.

Think this has something to do with dislike of Ginger and family .

Why should Ginger get the blame for that?I didnt read the whole thing but wasnt that her mother who did that?I've never heard a bad word about Elvis come from her.Even my wife who I usually think is fair cant stand her.She doesnt know why,she just does.I think it's a "woman" thing.

I think it stems from the situation surrounding Elvis' death and the fact that she was there with him and I guess you could say maybe alot of us think that had she checked on him sooner.......may sound petty......but then as soon as Elvis died - she was gone - I think asked to leave? She wasn't even allowed to ride in the family car at the funeral. Was she even at the funeral? I can't recall.

Vernon told ginger that she wasn't welcome anymore and she had to leave right away. Ginger was at the Funeral.

I've heard some of these rumors before. There are so many different rumors surrounding Elvis and the people around him that it is impossible to decipher what is true or not. What I don't understand is why she doesn't ever get the benefit of the doubt like so many other people who have had nasty things said about them, including Elvis. As for her not checking on Elvis sooner; you could say that about anyone in the entourage. Especially people that knew him longer and who were aware of his problems. Plus, Elvis was a grown man and that's a lot of responsibility for anyone regardless of how young they are. I think she's used as a scapegoat for a lot of other issues.

I don't blame Ginger for anything. She wasn't in Elvis' life long enough to know her . In fact, I thought she did well, keeping her mouth shut all those years . It was her mom that sued EPE, you're right .

you are absolutely correct....I hope people keep that in mind when thinking of the MM.

I think Ginger was a bit of a puppet in the hands of an overly ambitious mother
It's hard NOT to imagine Elvis as perfect; how else could someone be THAT good looking, THAT talented, THAT generous & THAT charismatic

It may indeed be a "woman" thing as someone called it in an earlier post, But I don't care for her at all, never did. I don't think that Linda Thompson would have let him dissapear from 9 A.M. until after 2 in the afternoon. I'm not saying that"s the difference in him living or dying, but I don't think that he would have been there long enough for rigor mortis to set in. Plus...the stuff she sold at Leland's Auction house she had to have taken from the house. She probably got mad when they pushed her out of the way and didn't let her ride in the ambulance. Also, the interview I've read about on the internet where she wants to come across as "a shy humble country girl" just irks the fire out of me. Her mom wanted a house, Ginger sold his clothes.....doesn't sound like the apple fell too far from the tree.

I agree with Riley, similar situation as what was with Priscilla and her mother.
