great Suit![]()
I found a picture on this forum. go to gallery, and then 1970.
And in one of the sides there is a picture of Elvis in this suit.
The first picture i ever se whit this suit on.
I try to get the picture here, but i don`t know how yet.....i`ll try
The late Rick Rennie said, I'm pretty certain, that Elvis wore a black suit during one of the August, 1970 shows that he taped. I think maybe it was the August 19 dinner show...maybe I'll look it up. Regardless, I've always wondered if it was this suit. He wore one of the other February jumpsuits during this engagement, so it's not beyond the realm of possibility.
I'm a roving roustabout...
Great suit thanks for sharing this one.

Elvis didn't design this jumpsuit Jouni, it was Bill Belew. He also designed the wardrobe for the "NBC TV Special" so also for the dancers. Bill Belew called this jumpsuit the "Black Broquade Suit" for the patterns were made of broquade. The gold coloured pattern is exactly the same as that of the dancers There were tiny whales in it.
According to Bill Belew Elvis completely turned himself over at Bill's mercy wardrobe wise. The only time Elvis really requested something special was for Aloha. Bill Belew and Gene Doucette just sended over the sketches for new suits to Graceland and let Elvis decide if it would be a green- or a red light. When Elvis approved the started their work.
One time Elvis made a change in an original design without knowing it. That was for the 1975 "Bird" suit. Most of you know this suits as "Eagles" or "Phoenix". But the original design was to be a zebra. Bill sended over some sketches of a suit with two zebra heads bowing towards eachother. The sketches came back with the remark that Elvis found that the bird had funny feet. That puzzled Bill en Gene for they didn't send any bird designs. What happened? When Elvis received the sketches he saw them upside down and thought it was another eagle. And so it became a bird. But if you look at the suit upside down you stll can see two zebra heads bowing toward eachother.
Yes it was. He wore this suit on January 26th, 1970 during the opening night. I know it may go against all info you ever heard. In almost every tour list the "White Cossack Top Jumpsuit" is listed as being the first jumpsuit he wore but as a lot of things in the Elvis world this is a myth.
as seen in monter

I posted a better quality version of this pix at http://www.tcb-world.com/gallery/sho...imageuser=1322
I posted a closeup, the original print, and a cleaned up version of the original.
This suit has the unicorns in the brocade area. I have seen pix from Graceland of the unicorn borade, but it seems the suit shown here hanging up has a black and gold pattern, while the unicorn boracade area includes pinks and other colors. This thread seems to include two different suits.
(don't know how to upload thumbnails here, or if I'm allowed to)
